The regulatory framework governing the production and sale of roller shutters on the territory of Russia for the last seven years has not taken into account all the technical parameters that must be observed in the countries of the European Union. These are, first of all, issues of safety, energy efficiency, corrosion resistance of components, etc. As a result, the level of consumer protection in Russia from a European point of view was much lower.
The new GOST R 52502-2005 is an attempt to harmonize with the normative documents of the EU countries. Now all roller shutter manufacturers and sellers selling these products in Russia must test roller shutters according to the technical standards established by the new GOST.
Let's consider some of the parameters of the new GOST, which testify to the quality of roller shutter structures
Firstly, energy efficiency … In Western Europe, it has long been proven that roller shutters can really save on heating in winter and reduce the cost of operating an air conditioner during hot periods. Now in Russia, an energy efficiency test has been added to the mandatory tests. A roller shutter installed on a window must provide at least 20% of the reduced heat transfer resistance. How is this determined? First, the thermophysical properties of the window are measured, then a roller shutter is installed on it and their joint heat transfer is checked. Roller shutters should increase the window's energy saving rate by at least 20%.
A particularly important parameter that the GOST developers paid attention to is the resistance of the roller shutter to wind loads. This is not surprising. Russia is a huge country with extremely diverse climatic conditions. Wind speed, temperature, amount of precipitation, etc. are variable here. According to the standard, there are 7 wind zones. A corresponding class of roller shutter systems is intended for each of them. For example, roller shutters of the 6th class of resistance to wind load are resistant to pressure of 400 Pa and wind speed of 25.9 m / s. A rolling shutter of the 2nd class simply will not withstand such a test: a gust of wind can tear its elements out of the guides.
To determine the resistance level of roller shutters, special stands are used. The product is placed in a sealed chamber, where then a rarefied atmosphere or, conversely, excess pressure is created. An object of decent quality can withstand the loads due to it, without deforming, without flying apart and maintaining full performance. Now all manufacturers are required to test roller shutters for wind load.
And finally quality of roller shutter components … An indicator such as resistance to negative external factors is especially relevant for coastal areas where humidity is high. According to the new GOST, regardless of the type of material from which the roller shutters are made, they must have reliable anti-corrosion properties. All roller shutter elements must withstand staying in neutral salt fog for at least 100 hours.
In general, the new Russian GOST for roller shutters will largely protect the consumer from a low-quality product and will contribute to the correct development of the roller shutter market. However, as you can imagine, the choice remains with the consumer. He has to choose - either a low price, or quality tested according to all standards, and security guarantees.
