Their plan also includes a concept for the development of the area adjacent to the stadium pier in the area of the Bay Bridge, connecting the California metropolis with neighboring Oakland.
Not all the details of this plan have been worked out yet, but it is already clear that the arrangement of a significant (about 28,000 m2) public space is envisaged, as well as the harmonious integration of the new building into the existing landscape. The architects proposed to decorate the outside of the arena with translucent fritted glass, decorated with a pattern of many dots. Thus, firstly, the problem of insolation will be solved, and secondly, the unique texture of the outer shell will add individuality to the structure. The area of the stadium, designed for 17.5 thousand people, will be 16,000 m2.
The arena is an asymmetrical ellipsoid with a slot in the side, to which a rounded ramp leads: this is how the entrance zone will be solved. A pedestrian ramp skirts the building so that walkers can enjoy views of the picturesque San Francisco Bay and the spectacular bridge that crosses it. The stadium is designed in the center of a terraced square, crossed by stairs. Under the square there will be an underground parking for 630 cars. An observation deck is planned on the roof of the building, which is also part of the public space.
The adjacent territory of the embankment, pier and landing stage is supposed to be completely transformed. There will be an entertainment town on the water, as well as a ferry crossing, a water taxi stop and a boat station for the San Francisco Fire Department. The management of the Golden State Warriors club wants to play in their own arena for the 2017–2018 season, but for now the basketball players are training at a temporary base in Auckland.
