Construction of the multifunctional Ice Palace "Cheboksary Arena" began in the summer of 2011 and just a month ago it was opened.
The total cost of the sports facility was 1.6 billion rubles. Funding was carried out from several sources - within the framework of the Federal Target Program "Development of Physical Culture and Sports in the Russian Federation for 2006-2015", the State Program of the Chuvash Republic "Development of Physical Culture and Sports for 2014-2020", as well as at the expense of JSC Gazprom.
The ice rink is designed for seven and a half thousand spectators and fully meets the requirements of the Continental Hockey League. In addition to the main arena, the infrastructure of the sports complex includes a training skating rink, changing rooms, showers, a gym, a medical rehabilitation center, a conference hall, a cafe, administrative premises and an underground parking lot.
Along with sports events, various forums, exhibitions, as well as concerts and entertainment show programs are expected to be held here.
