Now around this harbor, various business and cultural institutions are already located, and not all of it needs reconstruction: part of it is already occupied by new buildings. But the existing "facilities" for holding conferences, exhibitions, film premieres are planned to be replaced.
An international congress center with transformable spaces for any number of spectators from 700 to 25,000 and a banquet hall for 2,000 people will appear on an area of 20 hectares. It will also build an exhibition center (over 35 thousand m2 of exhibition space) with landscaped terraces, a multifunctional "theater" for 8000 spectators, a hotel with 900 rooms.
In addition, the Haymarket housing estate and a series of public spaces are planned with the reconstruction of Tumbalong Park (together they will occupy 1 hectare).
The project is planned to be implemented in 2014–2016. The city authorities and developers believe that it will breathe new life not only in the Darling Harbor area, but also in Sydney as a whole: it will allow events to be held there on a scale that has not yet been reached in Australia and will be able to attract entrepreneurs and cultural figures from all over the world.
