The port is located very close to the old city, which left its mark on the project: the new building was not supposed to block the views of the city from the sea or in the opposite direction.
Therefore, the only "material" part of the terminal is its roof, covered from above with a mosaic with a "sea" flavor. Thin pillars and glass walls, on the other hand, almost dissolve into thin air, although the building program is by no means ephemeral.
In the terminal, on an area of 11 thousand m2, there is a control zone for registering arriving and departing passengers, as well as three rounded "cabins" - the port administration, the police and the tourist information center. In addition, there are benches in the terminal, from where you can admire the views, hiding from the sun, a playground and a "sea class", where an exhibition about the inhabitants of the Mediterranean Sea in the Cartagena region is located.
The project budget was 1.63 million euros.
