It is located on the border of the historic city center. Perrault organized two triangular squares next to the new building: one, at the main facade of the theater, faces the famous cathedral, and the other marks the entrance to the cinema complex for 8 halls, which is partly located under the theater, partly in the neighboring building, rebuilt for this purpose.
The compact block of the theater is covered with a golden metal mesh: like the general terracotta tone of the building, it helps it blend into the brick-tiled landscape of Albi, while protecting the interiors from the southern sun. The entrances to the building are marked with “arches”: in these places, the mesh, which the architect compares to a theater curtain, rises slightly, letting visitors in.
From the side of the “theater” square, the façade is covered with colored glass, which paints the spacious foyer in warm colors.
The theater has two halls - the main one for 900 seats and the experimental one for 250 spectators. The rooftop terrace features a restaurant with panoramic views of Albi.
Among the infrastructure encumbrances of the project is a municipal underground parking for 380 cars.
