Holcim Awards is one of the most significant competitions in the field of sustainable construction, having gained a reputation and international recognition. Holcim Awards main category ("main category") is open to architects, planners, engineers, builders and construction firms who are able to demonstrate sustainable building principles by addressing technological, environmental and cultural challenges, as well as having an impact on modern construction and architecture. Start of construction (or development of technologies for the manufacture of materials and construction products) - not earlier than July 1, 2013.
In addition, the Holcim Awards is looking for innovative ideas for category "Next Generation" … In this nomination, applications are accepted from young professionals and students 18-30 years old (date of birth July 2, 1982 - March 24, 1996), project implementation - no earlier than July 1, 2013.
The fourth International Holcim Awards will be held at the initiative of the Swiss Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction in five regions simultaneously (2013-2014) and will end with the final stage in 2015. The awards ceremonies will be held at the end of 2014 in Moscow (for the Europe region), Toronto (North America), Medellin (Latin America), Beirut (Africa and the Middle East) and Jakarta (for the Asia-Pacific region).

Jury members - world famous architects and academics
Independent experts on the jury evaluate each application to ensure that it meets five “target issues” that underpin progressive and sustainable construction. Three of them are based on the concept of interaction between social, environmental and economic spheres. Others touch on functional and aesthetic impact, as well as innovation and realism. The jury is chaired by Jean-Philippe Vassal (Europe), Toshiko Mori (North America), Bruno Stagno (Latin America), Howayda Al-Harithy (Africa and the Middle East) and Rahul Mehrotra (Asia-Africa).
