The projects of the competition for the redesign of the Slavyanka shopping center were considered at a closed meeting of the architectural council on September 11. This council was the seventh in a row; it was held behind closed doors, the results of the judging were also not announced until recently; yesterday they were published on the Moskomarkhitektura website.
Three projects were submitted for the competition: Asadov's bureau, ABD architects and the project of the authors of the previous version - the Architectural and Engineering Company ASP, made by them jointly with TPS Nedvizhimost. Participated in the voting, i.e., actually made up the jury of the competition, the members of the architectural council: architects Andrey Bokov, Sergey Kuznetsov, Vladimir Plotkin, Sergey Tchoban, Nikolai Shumakov, Hans Stimann, as well as the deputy chairman of the Moscow Heritage Committee Alexei Yemelyanov and the head of the department of residential and civil buildings of Mosgosexpertiza Elena Antipova. Not a single vote was cast for the TSA project; for the other two projects, the votes were equally divided: four to four. It was decided to take into account the opinion of the customer and choose the project of Asadov's bureau, but at the same time borrow the transport scheme from the project of ABD architects bureau. And also to place a large aquarium inside the shopping center (this detail is present in the "ASP" project).
Let's remind that in April of this year the previous project of the company "ASP" was rejected by the arch council; at the same time Sergey Kuznetsov proposed to hold a competition for (literally) “architectural solutions and organization of public space of a multifunctional public center at the address: Slavyansky Boulevard, vl. 3 ".
First place. Asadov Architectural Bureau

“The proximity to the memorial complex of the Victory Park requires a restrained, simple and calm solution of the facade facing Kutuzovsky Prospekt and Davydkovskaya Street. The completion of the axes of Slavyansky Boulevard and Rublevskoye Shosse in the area of the entrance group presupposes the presence of a visual accent.
Scale
Contrasting external conditions form a different scale of the facades. The facade, corresponding to the scale of the capital avenue - calm horizontal divisions, drawn proportions, pure solid form. The facade, corresponding to the scale of the city street - Slavyanskiy Boulevard - is filled with commercial activity at the pedestrian level.
Permeability
The contrasting external environment and internal structure of the complex form different glazing from the side of the avenue and the inner boulevard. Opening of the building with showcases to the outside at the pedestrian level (entrances, café terraces, entrances, loading), with the exception of the facade along Kutuzovsky Prospekt with a noisy and dusty traffic flow along the avenue, overpass and Staromozhayskoye highway. The catering area, opened with shop windows towards the center, the main entrance and Kutuzovsky Prospect.
Facade material
Option 1: Perforated panels are a simple solution that creates an effective "skin" of the facade, especially in the evening, thanks to the backlighting. It is possible to use both simple and volumetric perforation (by bending the punched elements).
Option 2: Embossed metal cassettes are another simple yet effective cladding method. Combined with two shades of metal on different edges of the cassette, they will create the same “super-graphics” of wood streaks on the facade. Built-in illumination is possible in the protruding edges of the cassettes."

Author's description of the project:
“The competitive project proposal is based on the idea of the need to reduce the scale of the complex by architectural means and to bring the transport interchange hub in this area into a“technological order”.
Scaling down is achieved by dividing the volume of the complex horizontally into “heavy” (the lower part of the facades up to 18.00) and “light” (the upper part of the facades up to 30.00). The "heavy" part is made in opaque materials (perforated copper, aluminum or natural stone), and the "light" part is made of permanently illuminated glass profiles. In addition, the "light" upper part of the complex is split into several volumes, providing the necessary feeling of lightness.
At the same time, green terraces are located on the facade facing the existing residential building, visually expanding the space between the structures. Part of the roof of the complex from the side of the residential building is a park with vegetation, which improves the view from the windows of the neighboring residential building.
The second task was to rework the TPU “bus - metro - route taxi - pedestrians”, dictated by the need to create an area of sufficient size in front of the main entrance to the complex and a large number of transit routes for pedestrians.
The new version of the traffic and pedestrian traffic scheme proposes:
- at the exit point to Staromozhaiskoye highway, form a two-lane refuse for bus stops and in the same zone, from the side of Slavyansky Boulevard, make minibus stops, and block the space between them with a glass canopy.
- move the exit to Staromozhaiskoye highway from Kutuzovsky prospect further, under the flyover.
Thus, a space free from traffic is formed in front of the entrance to the multifunctional complex - an area of sufficient size, connected by a system of underground passages with the metro lobby.
For greater architectural expressiveness and convenience of pedestrians and visitors of the complex, the area is covered with a media canopy."
