Today, the Academy Saint-Gobain is a unique facility in Russia both in terms of its educational concept and in terms of approach to the reconstruction of the building of the center. The renovation of the Academy was carried out in accordance with the principles of building a multi-comfortable house, which implies not only a reduction in resource consumption, but also the creation of a special comfortable environment for humans (acoustics, environmental friendliness, safety, air quality, aesthetics, etc.).

The main goal of the Saint-Gobain Academy is to train representatives of the construction and architectural industry to work with high-tech materials and technologies, as well as to demonstrate the possibilities of an innovative approach to construction. “The problem of professionalism and quality is one of the key issues for this industry. Modern building solutions require specialists to have a completely different level of knowledge of technologies and materials. Today, this experience is necessary not only in theory, but also in practice. The Accademia Saint-Gobain Innovation Center is a unique project that fully reflects the essence of the modern educational process in the construction industry, said Gonzag de Piré, General Director of Saint-Gobain CIS.

The educational concept of the center is based on a combination of theoretical studies and practical master classes. It is planned to conduct educational courses for practicing specialists of various construction professions, as well as for architects and designers, who are increasingly faced with the need to use innovative materials in their projects, at the Saint-Gobain Academy.

During the construction of the first building in Russia

the concept of a multi-comfortable house, Saint-Gobain has widely used various innovative solutions and materials both of its own production (ISOVER thermal insulation, Gyproc gypsum board, energy-efficient double-glazed windows, partitions with variable transparency, etc.) and the products of partner companies. In particular, a heat recovery ventilation system and radiant heating and cooling panels from Zehnder were used, as well as electrical equipment from Schneider Electric. Thanks to the use of the latest materials and developments of Saint-Gobain, the specific energy consumption used for heating the building has been reduced by more than 4 times (from 183 to 43 kW * h / sq.m * year).

Innovative materials and technologies

Multi-Comfort House "is an advanced solution of the Saint-Gobain group in the field of energy-efficient construction. Heat in the "Multi-Comfort House" is retained with minimal energy consumption, thanks to the heat-insulating shell along the entire contour of the building. The house is heated with the help of solar energy coming through the windows, heat generated by household appliances and residents, as well as heat from the exhaust air. This minimizes the use of traditional heating appliances.

The Saint-Gobain Multi-Comfort House meets all the criteria for a “passive house”, and at the same time has additional advantages that provide a high level of comfort:

  • good acoustics;
  • optimal lighting;
  • high quality indoor air;
  • Fire safety;
  • high level of environmental friendliness of the materials used.

Design principles of the "Saint-Gobain Multi-Comfort House"

Low consumption of heat energy is ensured by a set of measures to reduce heat loss. Thermal insulation is one of the key components. It allows you to reduce heat loss through the building envelope. The thickness of the insulating layer must be selected correctly. Only then will it be possible to ensure the maximum energy efficiency of the building at the lowest cost.

The outer shell of the house must be solid and continuous. It protects the building from cold in winter and heat in summer, providing a comfortable microclimate. Loose joints and cracks are unacceptable in the "Multi-Comfort House", since significant heat loss can occur through these defects.

Windows of the "Multi-Comfort House" do not impair the heat-shielding properties of the outer contour of the building and do not violate its tightness. In winter, they let in more solar energy than they give off heat to the outside. This is possible thanks to triple glazing with a low-emission coating and filling the inter-glass space with an inert gas: argon or krypton, as well as the correct orientation to the cardinal points. Window frames are thermally insulated and wider than standard ones.

The heat recovery ventilation system is designed to supply fresh air with minimum energy consumption. This is achieved through the use of:

  • efficient ventilation unit with low energy consumption;
  • shortening the length of the air ducts;
  • ensuring correct air flow.

Failure to meet any of these three conditions is unacceptable and nullifies all efforts to reduce the building's energy consumption.
