Prologue
Preface to fairy tales
In an attempt to tell a pseudo-like story about a person's future, a story that has not yet begun, in which even the author himself believes with great difficulty and does not expect others to believe in it, he tried to model our future with you and make it relevant enough to those changes and vibrations that take place in today's world. However, this story is true. It will definitely happen to us in the very near future. This future is not monolithic, it tastes insanely bitter, flavored with a rich amount of apocalyptic inventories and countless mistakes committed by humanity, at the same time it is insanely sweet, since it is the utopian quintessence of all the most sincere and best - the fruits of Eden, which humanity will certainly receive upon arrival at the place. And the very possibility of an alternative outcome of events causes in a person a complete rejection and disagreement, close to nehuman disbelief in the spirits living here and there. Such a position may seem like an annoying omission in order to embellish the future that awaits us in the name of beauty, and that is why the author deliberately excludes its very possibility. He offers to prepare our hearts for the perception of new and unfamiliar values. Try to imagine a world in which a person, free from the shackles of religions and morality, travels in endless cosmic oceans, every now and then discovering new cosmic reservations. He clearly realizes that the endless expanses of space, its spills and numerous sleeves, indicate the imperfection and falsity of religious legends that exist and retain their relevance only within the framework of our solar system. He also clearly realizes that in order to fully understand the cosmic structure, it is necessary to get rid of the experience accumulated over centuries and, having tried to rethink it, build a new morality, growing on the basis of endless space travel and universal human discoveries. “Although you have achieved full development in some simple ways, the higher potential of your spirituality has not even begun to sprout.” - Olaf Stapledon, The Last and First Men.
In recent years, mankind has accumulated more knowledge than in its entire history. The speed of knowledge exchange has increased thousands of times and continues to grow. It is this factor that gives grounds to say that in the coming decades there will be fundamental discoveries in the field of science and technology, which will entail changes in the society itself, and, therefore, in the architecture of the city, which it will need. In terms of the degree of influence, this can be compared with the era of the great geographical discoveries. Our day begins today with an information shower. Every day we form and transform the head and configuration of its nozzle. Insanely stupid information in the era of BIG DATA has become insanely smart, it does not seek to attack the consumer, it seeks to please him, bringing it to cyber orgasm. Man has dissolved into cyber nature. Almost disappearing, it acquired its true meaning. We again began to deify nature, running naked through the cyberlugs! We feel her vibrations, we feel her breath, we ourselves have dissolved in it through high-speed cables! And moving away into the pitch fog that spews out from the bowels of the cybernetic womb, the foremother of all mothers, we dissolve in it. Our consciousness is plastic, it floats in a cybernetic fog. Our body remained outside this world.
Problems
The spatial structure of a metropolis, woven from a fairy tale and reality, already today generates a more complex structure of the city and the social relations that take place in it. The spaces of these "fairy tales" have a whole card index that is not characteristic of the real space of the laws of physics and mechanics. The ability to fly or walk from planet to planet, walk through walls during system bugs complicates the architectural combinations of the city. Cyberspace, filled with glitches and bugs, components of its natural habitat, burst out into a real city without destroying it, but forming a completely new and previously unknown place - Cybertopia. The growth in the speed of technology development makes it possible for these worlds to come into contact more and more naturally, and, ultimately, they completely transform the cyberspace of the city and its physical part into a new favorable environment for the life of the future man and its other citizens. The cyberspaces of a metropolis are its natural districts with their own inhabitants, who form communes and establish strange and ridiculous relationships for us not only among themselves, but also with people themselves. Today, the cyber reserves of the city are deliberately ignored, they are devoid of any structure and qualitative comprehension. Today these are dense cyber slums of the city, a huge reserve for its further spatial and programmatic development. Artificial intelligence robots; objects of household utensils talking among themselves and talking on the most intimate topics; cybermen, who turned from people with disabilities into “citizens” with a huge arsenal of interaction with the new urban typology and topography; animals endowed with their own mind - geese, making daily walks to the neighboring hypermarket, as well as creatures from cyber reality that do not exist in reality and have no analogues that have escaped into the streets of the metropolis. What will a “comfortable” environment for such “new townspeople” look like? What new typologies will they demand from the city? How are its streets, public spaces, "natural" elements, industry and housing being transformed in pursuit of these goals? Today, the cyber nature, born of high-speed progress, is devoid of dialogue between the natural, “new” inhabitants of the city. Despite the fact that the potential of its components is not inferior, and in some cases even surpasses “analog, natural duplicates”, this potential continues to be persistently ignored. Further deviation from the cyberization of the environment and the absence of a new cybertopography in the city not only deprives it of its advantages, but also unambiguously causes irreparable harm to the community living in it. The metropolis is devoid of organic spatial structures that help to connect urban topography, spread out in the real world, and cyberspace. The question of how to relate to such a new habitat and what a city should be, organically combining reality and a cyber tale, is becoming more and more relevant. That is why it deserves a special and careful study.
Tales of Cybertopia
“Techno-paganism. Magicians and sorcerers of the New Age era"
Mom's gentle hand slid over my head before I began to drown in unprecedented fairy-tale worlds full of bizarre creatures and creatures, wizards and villains, a world of total good and evil. Any fairy tale begins with my mother's voice, spreading in the room, like the smile of the Cheshire Cat. Whispered in our ear at night - the apotheosis of childhood - it reaches a new peak of absurdity in the future, “in which, the quintessence of motherhood - lulling a baby - is carried out on a videophone, with MaBell as a surrogate mother” (Mark Deri “Escape Speed: Cyberculture at the Turn centuries”) - remote access, via the Internet, connecting a young yuppie mother, who is at an extraordinary TED conference, and her newborn baby. Today, the fairy-tale world is the lot of geeks and cyber-hippies, sticking out from the cyberorgasm received every minute from the depths of cyberspace. They are often referred to as the flower kids of the 60s and the techies of the 90s New Age."They are ready to get rid of the body at any moment, but intend to preserve their humanity, obsessed with the upgrade of mental abilities (smartdrugs), but long for the bodily pleasures of the coming Dionysian revival." (Mark Deri “Speed of Escape: Cyberculture at the Turn of the Century”). The city is filled with spirits and deities - Eros, Kama and Angus - which allow a person to enjoy all the joys of life, demanding in return only sincere lust and parental reverence. Programmers, on the other hand, are their priests, writing on their home personal PCs, cult attributes for Apple's occult magical rite of worship, the cherished scripture of the new Babylon, “today being built so that people can again learn to understand each other” (Mark Deri). Their fingers knock on manuscripts, as if an ancient and unknown mantra to anyone except themselves, consisting of giant, strange and exciting codes with their mystery that barely fit on the luminous canvases of the monitor, epics about new and unlikely worlds that have long spilled out into the metropolises and crossed out all the lines between reality and a fairy tale. They with unchanging passion tell us about the life of these mysterious deities and goddesses, possessing colossal power, who have long accepted into their mother's bosom all careless and disobedient humanity, and we, like little children, with lust and great reverence listen to their stories from the world of our dreams and fantasy. “In a sense, the story will end … Perhaps our role on this planet is not to worship God, but to create him. And then our work will be done and it will be time to play”(Mark Deri“Escape Speed: Cyberculture at the Turn of the Century”). “God wants someone to appear with whom he could talk at his own level, and it is the creation of this someone that humanity is engaged in” (Mark Deri). From the womb of the cybernetic womb every now and then new bits of high-speed information are spewed out, suitable for the fastest consumption. Superconducting cables take them to the city's information diner.
Residents of the metropolis get together to discuss tasty information. An information meal - cyberporn in the middle of the working day - is the lot of real technophiles and cyberhippies. Orders here can be individual. Your personal informational chef will select something spicy and tasty for you this morning for you, exactly what you love, because he knows absolutely everything about you. By the way, an interesting thing is a tailcoat … it depersonalizes the waiters.
Cybertopia. Death of analog cities. "Fiction"
The city of the future is organized and designed in both digital and physical spaces. Brand new topography of the city. A map that includes cyberworlds with their own geography, laws of physics, qualities and even inhabitants. As if the landscapes of computer games were woven into the city space, becoming its organic part.
New topography of the city of the future. "Cybernetic Meadows"
Now the modularity of the megalopolis, previously totally human-oriented, is also oriented towards “machines”, which become full-fledged participants in both the social and cultural processes of the megalopolis and its full-fledged constructors. The design of the urban environment is based on the needs of spatial and aesthetic comfort not only for humans, but also for the “robot”. A mechanized city, a new understanding of “accessible habitat”. A new field for dialogue between machines and people. Life is on the verge of theatrical risk, a totally produced performance. The trolleys will never cross in this insanely complex organism, although they give the impression that a disaster is about to happen. The catastrophe itself becomes a myth of the old world, where technologies and people did not understand each other, communicating in languages incomprehensible to the interlocutor. The trolleys will never collide, they don't need this, they hear, feel and understand each other even without physical touch. Silently. In the language of machines. The language that machines now teach humans is in the world of living things that flirt with us, as if observing rituals in some strange love trips. The places of such divine trances are saturated with electricity belched by our bodies with you, beating in rhythmic convulsions. It looks like a quivering whisper from the amorous fusion of technophile and mechanical electronics. Rhythmic Luv. The virtual space is prone to glitches and bugs. A person needs to get used to this. They don't seem strange. This is his new reality. For example, no one is surprised by a fire-breathing dragon flying down the street trying to convince you to buy the latest model of panties.
Future city architecture
Housing is not static, it no longer constricts or constrains the citizens of the city. A resident has the opportunity to live in completely different places as many times as he wants. Proceeding from the situation of the city that is constantly transforming and "moving", the places of stationary residence are devoid of their meaning. Today there is an opportunity to work and live there, tomorrow - in another place. The very spatial structure of the residential complex is also flexible and mobile. The entire complex is formed around a frame structure, along which cranes move, completing and moving entire blocks of the complex. Part of the frame structure can be disassembled immediately after the completion of the area of the residential complex, or deliberately remain clothed in a frame for the potential possibility of further transformation and change in the future. Whole, completed areas of a residential complex can be moved to a separate sector so as not to "interfere" and "not to hamper" further construction, or they can be interspersed directly into the frame structure to transform the program palette or deliberately condense it.
A series of 3D-printed or drone-based framework elements serve as structures for subsequent localized compaction and modification. The central axis of the complex, which unites a series of residential quarters, contains a monorail along which a printer moves, which prints and, in some cases, erases spatial structures. Inside this extended communication, there is an intra-block train that moves the townspeople from one part of the city to another at a tremendous speed. Technology has become so safe and precise that it has completely merged with the everyday life of the townspeople. For example, if a child has appeared in a family, then she can order the printing of a new room, expanding her living space, and settle in this room while it is being printed, and everyday life goes on as usual.
Lifestyle at a construction site
The transformations of the residential complex are clearly programmed and activated as required by software. Nevertheless, the complex itself is in constant dynamic growth and spatial compaction. Such a dynamic palette of spatial transformations does not interfere with the natural life inside the residential complex. Dissolved in the environment, technologies that never fail have transformed a dangerous construction site into a new format for the public space of a metropolis: scaffolding is becoming new temporary streets and squares.
Afterword
Dissolving in cybernature
“We are the generation that has had a chance to witness a cosmic epiphany. In our migration from the earthly world to cyberspace, we will be given to see the greatest changes since the birth of our Universe”(Mark Deri).
Any fairy tale ends well, and this one is no exception …
Megalopolises are flooded with creatures from cyberspace. A bestiary of an unnatural digital nature - creatures from fairy tales read to us at night.
