The World Architecture Festival (WAF) brings together architects, developers and material and technology manufacturers from all over the world every fall.
Both world stars (this year, Zaha Hadid with the Dongdaemun Design Park and Plaza complex, Norman Foster with the Lenbachhaus Museum, BIG bureau with the Danish Maritime Museum, and others) took part in the competition for the festival prize (this year, not too famous) workshops - only about 600 buildings from different parts of the world. Since the last three years the festival has been held in the “city of the future” - Singapore, and not in Barcelona, as it was at the beginning, the number of participants from Asia and Australia has increased there by an order of magnitude. By the way, three objects from Russia were shortlisted for awards in different nominations, although they were not marked with final awards: the Olympic Station, built in Sochi by Nikita Yavein's Studio 44, the competition project for the reconstruction of the Udarnik cinema (Blank Architects / John McAslan + Partners / Ralph Appelbaum Associates) and WOWHAUS Documentary Film Center.
The WAF award includes more than 30 nominations covering almost all types of buildings and areas of architecture: from a single-family apartment building to a hospital, from landscape to masterplan. The only strict condition is that the project at the time of participation in the competition should not be more than one and a half years old.
