As we have already reported, on December 19, the ARTEZA consortium was declared the winner of the competition for the development of the concept of the Mitino park. The project was developed by the ARTEZA landscape design studio and the FORM architectural bureau with the support of the Russian Research Group consulting company and the IPro company. The competition started on August 27, 23 consortia participated in it, 10 of which became finalists.
The park, the only one in the relatively new "Zamadovskiy" district of Mitino, owes its appearance to archaeologists: when in the nineties the territory began to be built up with micro-districts, they discovered here mounds of the 11th-13th centuries. 126 hectares - and this is about a tenth of the total area of the region, received the status of a monument of history and culture; the first landscape park was laid out in 2003 according to the Mosproekt-3 plan. The Baryshikha River flows through the park, there are two ponds on it, Maly and Bolshoy Penyaginsky - the latter occupies 6 hectares, is located almost in the center and has intricate contours. The task of the participants of the competition was to develop a comprehensive concept: from architectural and landscape solutions to a recreation program and an economic component.
The winning concept is called Red Park. “Red is formerly beautiful in the Old Russian sense,” the authors explain, “but we also proposed a symbol of the park on which its identity could be built: a red leaf. This is a simple autumn leaf, we didn't have to invent it, we found it in the park. The simple and organic form refers to the natural component of the park and to the oak leaf on the emblem of the Mitino district”.
The sheet in the version proposed by the authors is of a very simple shape, generalized oval and, of course, red or with a red outline. Architects use it as a module for most of the park's lightweight structures; the sheet easily folds along the axis and looks like a drop or a petal, it is suitable for a variety of sheds - small, over a children's sandbox, and large, multi-piece, over a fairground, and for an elegant roof with deeply extended, easily raised, like in a building Danilovsky market, with visors - for example, in the form of graceful petals above a transparent cafe-greenhouse or larger, above the stables.
The authors, and this was one of the important reasons for their victory in the competition, paid a lot of attention to revealing the value of the archaeological heritage, the mounds, which, in fact, gave rise to the park. Not far from the exit from the Volokolamskaya metro station and the parking lot, the architects proposed to create a historical and archaeological center, locating it in the reconstructed buildings of a dilapidated vegetable warehouse: in particular, the museum is located in the most preserved, red-brick hangar. Using the existing relief - "influx" of earth, approaching the wall of the building from the metro side, the authors saw in it a kind of mound-hill, cut through the ground with an entrance corridor - visitors will enter the museum, literally passing through the cut layers of the earth, as if through a mound. The semi-dark exposition space will be illuminated by elongated lanterns placed at different angles, resembling trees growing on mounds - the entire museum becomes a semblance of an archaeological object, its space and volume are intended not only to demonstrate valuable finds, but also to create the necessary emotional atmosphere.
Behind the building there will be a museum square surrounded by a park administration building, a summer lecture hall and a light pavilion. In the center of the square there are several semicircular mounds for children. Loops of paths between the mounds begin from the square; the route of museum excursions can pass along them.
From one of the paths of the museum part, a long arc of a covered pedestrian bridge begins, suspended high - “it touches the upper relief marks” - over the Baryshikha River and not only connecting the eastern museum part of the park with its middle and a pond, which not only facilitates access to the park for people with limited mobility,- wonderful views will also open from the bridge: the waterfall on the river and the flowering meadows - Arteza proposed to create a whole system of meadows in the park, a significant part of which is grouped along the sides of the bridge.
In the southern part of the park, the go-karting area, which is open only in summer, is being converted into a permanent equestrian club. Closer to Roslovka Street, a skate park is being formed around a small pond, now not even filled with water. The rectangular area covered with asphalt in the western part of the park is being transformed into a multifunctional one, dividing into a central area for mass events, concerts and fairs, and side, quieter ones, under awnings. The existing relief is used to create an amphitheater. A restaurant appears on the northern bank of a large pond.
The authors divided the implementation of the project into four phases: first, a museum center, a skate park and a restaurant will be built, the banks of the pond will be landscaped, then the square, an equestrian club and the arrangement of meadows; the most costly measures for the improvement of the banks of the stream, the construction of a greenhouse, the finishing touch will be a pedestrian bridge, are attributed to a later stage.
