As part of the second week of the SibBuild-2015 exhibition, an Open Art & Build competition of art objects was held at the Novosibirsk Expocentre. The organizers of the competition were the Novosibirsk branch of the Eastern Sales Directorate of LLC "KNAUF GIPS", the Association of Low-Rise and Individual House Building and ITE "Siberian Fair".
The competition was held in two stages. At the first stage, the contestants published on the site projects of art objects on the theme "Masterpieces of World Architecture" with a description and specification of the materials used by Knauf for their implementation. The second stage was face-to-face and involved the practical implementation of projects at the competition site of the SibBuild-2015 exhibition. 10 teams took part in it. The geography and category of participants was extensive: from Chita to Barnaul, from students to eminent architects.
For three days, the contestants sawed out complex elements from KNAUF sheets, bent them, decorated them, grinded out volumetric elements from Knauf-Rotband plaster, creating domes for their masterpieces. This event attracted great interest from the visitors of the exhibition. They were asked to vote on participants' projects, which were presented on easels next to the workplaces. For three days, visitors left more than a thousand "votes" - stickers with the KNAUF logo - and the project of the art object "Dancing House" by Igor Sudakov (designer) and Alexander Nedoshitko (builder) won unanimously in the audience voting.
The official results of the competition were summed up by a professional jury. It included: the chief architect of the Novosibirsk region Lukyanenko I. The work of the teachers of the Altai Construction College Marina Popova and Alexander Chebykin "Chapel", who created a complex domed structure, became very technological in performance.
Designers Marina Borisova, Olga Rybakova from Kemerovo presented an object based on wooden umbrellas of the Metropol Parasol complex. The umbrella structure was made by the contestants from KNAUF sheets.
Students of the Assembly and Construction College Evgeny Nepochatov and Sergei Makienko presented the "Headquarters of the Central Television of China" and earned a victory in the nomination "For the most accurate observance of Knauf technologies."
A family worked on the art object "Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary" by Oscar Niemeyer: designer Yekaterina Bondarenko and her husband Denis Bondarenko. The work was noted for original solutions in the use of Knauf materials.
Another team of students from the Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin), consisting of Alexander Vershinin and Vladimir Minyaylenko, with the work "The Heritage of European Architecture" took second place. Alexander and Vladimir from KNAUF-lists created a relief map of Europe and volumetric sights of several European countries.
The third place was shared by two teams of participants: Svetlana Tolstokulakova and Varvara Selskaya from the Zabaikalsky multidisciplinary technical school (Chita), who presented a complex and bright layout of the Kazan Cathedral in Chita, as well as designer Anastasia Kashirskaya and builder Vladimir Zubov (interior design bureau "Salt") with a philosophical idea called "The Way".
The held event, according to visitors' reviews, became the brightest event of the construction exhibition, and the participants of the competition are waiting for a repetition in order to implement new ideas in the use of Knauf materials.
