The competition for the concept of development of the Okhta River coastal area in St. Petersburg was held by Project Baltia magazine and LSR. Real Estate - North-West ", which is building the residential quarter" Novaya Okhta ". The participants had to offer ideas for the improvement of the territory, taking into account the interests of the residents of the area and the uniqueness of the existing natural landscape. The jury considered 35 projects in total. We present the works of the winners.

Seasons

The name of the project reflects the idea of the all-season use of the park. The figurative expression of this idea has become apple orchards, the appearance of which changes with the change of seasons. In addition to apple trees, forsythia and red maples blooming in early spring will be planted here, which will add color in autumn. The authors propose to divide the park into several functional areas connected by pedestrian and bicycle paths. This is an art cluster, an amphitheater, a skate park, a beach, a picnic area and other objects. The project provides for the creation of cafes, rental points and other small-format establishments based on freight containers. This will make it easy for them to move around the area. The park should become an interesting and comfortable resting place for representatives of different age and social groups.

This concept is based on the desire to minimize interference with the natural environment. The author proposes to organize a natural park on the competitive territory, where residents and guests of the area can walk, enjoy the scenery, and stay away from the city noise. The main idea of the project is to create a pedestrian alley along the river, along the entire length of which there are “islands” for relaxation and contemplation of the landscape. To create a feeling of complete unity with nature, the alley is fenced off from the city by a wall: so residential and industrial buildings will completely disappear from view.

Okhta Ukhty

The authors have divided the embankment area into five main zones. This is an apple square, a beach, a green gallery, a forest with an edge and a serpentine road. The division is carried out depending on the profile of the existing relief and allows during a walk through the park to go through a chain of different "atmospheres". A forest with an edge, for example, is a great place for a quiet holiday. Serpentine, on the contrary, is a place for sports. The Green Gallery is conceived as a space for self-expression of artists and ordinary residents of the area, and the square, by tradition, will be the center of an active social life.
