The residential complex on rue Ovry in the commune of Oberville is one of the last completed projects in a series of new housing developments in Paris and the surrounding area. As part of the renovation program of the old industrial area and in accordance with the masterplan developed by TOA architectes, three new wooden residential buildings designed by Tectône have been integrated into the existing development of Ovri Street.

Initially, the terms of the tender provided for the construction of a residential complex of wood, as well as the participation in it of teams consisting of architectural workshops and firms specializing in wood construction. Therefore, Tectône's partner in this project was Charpente Houot.

Three wooden volumes, wrapped in a translucent shell of rhythmic vertical slats, stand out against the background of the rest of the buildings in the quarter and - together with the park stretching along the south side - add a suburban charm to the existing environment. The natural leitmotif is supported by the natural variability embedded in the facade: cladding made of untreated pine wood will acquire a grayish-silver hue over time.

The lanes between the buildings visually connect the park with the street: turning from it into this courtyard-alley, you can get to the shops or workshops facing the city on the first floors, and walking a little further - enter the hall of the residential part of the building. Thus, the privacy of this public bundle ranges from public street space through a buffer zone of commercial premises to a private garden for residents.

The complex with a total area of 3200 m2 includes an underground parking lot, three commercial premises and 39 apartments: three studios, nine 1-rooms (more precisely, with one bedroom and a living room obligatory for all non-studios), 17 two-room, seven 3-room, three 4 -room, and the upper floors are reserved for spacious duplex apartments. Each apartment has a two- or three-sided orientation and at least one balcony or terrace overlooking the city park.

The first floor and the staircase and elevators are made of reinforced concrete, the overlying structure is a wooden frame. Two-layer timber cladding protects the southern facades from overheating, maintaining a comfortable temperature during the summer, and vertical slats not only create an individual image of the building, but also provide visual protection for the interior and terraces. Window shutters move between the layers of the facade cladding, which allows you to maintain the integrity of the image - a continuous translucent grid of wooden verticals.

The authors of the project note that the building meets all European requirements for environmental protection: in particular, rainwater is collected in a tank under the ramp of the underground parking, which feeds the technical water supply and irrigation of the gardens, and the internal layout is designed to make the most of the spatial orientation enclosures and make optimal use of natural light.
