At the beginning of 2015, we already talked about the fact that the Kirill company brought to the market a domestic manufacturer of hand-molded facing bricks - the Donskiye Zori plant, with several collections at once. This plant in the Rostov region was able to seriously compete with the most famous European brands. In terms of quality and technical characteristics, Rostov brick is in no way inferior to world analogues, but its price is much lower than that of foreign manufacturers. And the rich “stanitsa” history of the Rostov region gave names to the collections: “Stepnoy”, “Divnogorye”, “Starodonskoy”, “Demidovsky”, “Tanais”.

Already in the summer, manufacturers, using the basic collection "Stanitsa", expanded their assortment with a new series of bricks "Patterned", adding somewhere a light, somewhere thick coating of scale, which architects love so much. The technology is based on the use of a reduction firing, which allows a greater variety of colors than usual. And especially for sophisticated customers and lovers of retro - for the first time in modern Russia - a line of narrow bricks called "Usadba" with collections: "Muromtsevo", "Marfino", "Kryokshino", "Borodino" and "Velegozh". Inspired by prototypes - famous manor houses - the collections refer to the traditions of Russian brick architecture in all its richness, while observing very strict technical standards for bricks - compressive strength of 300 kg s / cm2 and frost resistance from F100 for plinth to more than F300 for basic collections.

The success of the domestic manufacturer is based on following the centuries-old traditions of brick manufactories. Meanwhile, technically, its products are quite modern: the plant uses a special recipe for mixing clays and special additives, the production is equipped with the most modern equipment, and the device of the furnaces makes it possible to produce an individual product - for example, with the effect of a noble scorch and a volumetric textured surface. The rich color palette of bricks, which was developed taking into account the recommendations of architects who know the needs of the market like no other, is pleasantly surprising.

And now a new breakthrough - several collections of hand-molded Rostov bricks at once - Divnogorye, Matveyevsky, Elizavetinsky, Chocolate, Stepnoy, Demidovsky, Starodonskaya - became a source of inspiration for architects in the new project of a club residential complex on Krasnaya Presnya.

This is the RASSVET LOFT * STUDIO complex, designed by the architects of DNA ag. In this project, the designers were faced with the task of converting an existing industrial building located on the territory of the Rassvet machine-building plant into residential apartments. A very long panel house, which was supposed to become an example of modern housing in the "loft" style, was built in the late Soviet period on the territory of the old furniture factory "Mur and Merilis" - the brainchild of Scottish entrepreneurs of the early XX century, who donated such architectural monuments to the capital as, for example, the neo-gothic building of the Central Department Store on Petrovka. The earliest buildings that have survived on the territory of the plant date back to 1900 and were built according to the design of Roman Klein. Later, in different periods of time, this territory was gradually built up. As a result, a very dense and stylistically heterogeneous urban environment has developed, uniting residential, industrial and public buildings.

The building in question was not only to be made part of this diverse development, but also to be endowed with new qualities of comfortable housing, deciding, in accordance with the wishes of the customer, facades and interiors in the "loft" style. The architects proposed to divide the long volume visually into six parts, likening it to a fragment of a street with small houses attached to each other. The architects managed to achieve the plausibility of this effect largely due to the well-chosen material for finishing the facades - namely, the mix of hand-molded bricks "Donskiye Zori" from several collections. For each conditional "house" they chose different shades of bricks from their neighbors, the brickwork and texture also vary - somewhere smoother, somewhere rough and embossed, somewhere similar to ancient counterparts.

In addition, the silhouette of the building has become noticeably more complex. The height of the ridge of the roof is changing, the rhythm of windows and cornices is slightly disturbed, and open terraces are provided for residents of the upper attic floor, which add depth to the building. The same purpose is served by high window openings from ceiling to floor, reinforcing the verticalism of proportions. Concrete and ferrous metal details on balconies and loggias complete the look, emphasizing its modernity.

But let us return to the main character of the project - bricks, which are displayed on the facades of the club complex with samples from various collections. An intricate mix of hand-molded bricks defines the face of each piece of the house. The combinations are very different: on one of the sections, a brick from the Matveevsky collection is adjacent to samples from Divnogorye and Demidovsky, the same brick in combination with Chocolate and Stepnoy gives a completely different, more intense and mobile shade, and with the addition of "Starodonsky" and "Elizavetinsky", the texture becomes more consistent and noble.

The main material that forms the unique look and atmosphere, brick remains in the interiors of the building.

The interiors of public spaces are designed in accordance with the general concept of the project. In the design of the corridor, fragments of the decoration of each facade are reflected, thus reminding which of the “houses” are the inhabitants or their guests. The brick finish here also changes color and texture, and the dividing borders are accented with frames.

All public spaces - halls, corridors and lobbies - become, as it were, a continuation of the facade, and therefore, just like the outer walls, they are solved with the active use of bricks. The theme of the external division of the building into six separate parts is successfully developing in the interior spaces, whose design exactly repeats the exterior solution. The brick finish here also changes color and texture, plays with the pattern of the masonry and accents the borders.

Brick inside residential apartments plays an equally important role. The large number of brick surfaces in the living room, bedroom and dining room do not make the premises less comfortable - on the contrary, they fill them with special warmth, coupled with bright natural light penetrating into all corners of the rooms through huge factory windows.

Skillfully created combinations of bricks on the facades and in the interiors of the building add up to a vivid and pleasing to the eye picture, upon close examination, looks like a kind of kaleidoscope or puzzle, composed of various plastic themes. There were seven different collections to put together, each with its own individual character. It must be said that over the years, many designers have ceased to rely on the quality of Russian-made facing bricks, preferring, in cases where the texture of the facade must be impeccable, to rely on supplies from Germany, England and other European countries that have established themselves as market leaders. Today, the domestic manufacturer shows itself not worse, and in terms of cost - better than foreign counterparts. Isn't it import substitution? It should be noted that all collections are made according to the Qbricks quality standard developed by Kirill and APSK, and which is recognized by such the oldest brick industries in Europe as the English IBSTOCK, the German Hagemeister and the Dutch Daas Baksteen.
