By improving building materials and systems for their use, Knauf strives to create maximum comfort and manufacturability in everything. One of the most convenient, modern, environmentally friendly materials for the construction of internal non-bearing partitions is Knauf gypsum boards.

Knauf gypsum boards are made from gypsum binder using injection molding technology. Modern technologies make it possible to obtain slabs with an excellent front surface quality. Natural gypsum, from which the boards are made, does not contain toxic substances, is odorless and is a dielectric. Gypsum boards are resistant to seasonal fluctuations in temperature and humidity and have a unique ability to "breathe": absorb moisture from the air when it is in excess and give it back when the room is too dry.

Knauf gypsum plasterboard (gypsum tongue-and-groove slab) is a monolithic product in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped with a tongue-and-groove joint and high accuracy of the size 900x300x80 mm. The high quality of the front surface eliminates the process of plastering the finished surfaces. The slabs are lightweight - up to 27 kg, with a density of no more than 1250 kg / m3. For the construction of 1 m2 partitions will need 3.7 pieces, and the weight is still the same 1 m2 the structure will be no more than 100 kg.

The KNAUF company produces gypsum boards of two types. Ordinary or standard ones are used for the installation of partitions, curtain walls and claddings in buildings with dry and normal humidity conditions, and moisture resistant (hydrophobic) ones can also be used in rooms with a humid regime according to SNiP 23-02-2003 "Thermal protection of buildings". In the manufacture of such plates, hydrophobic additives are introduced into the molding mass to reduce water absorption. KNAUF-Fugen mixtures to Knauf-Fugen Hydro are used as an adhesive for the installation of plates.

Working with Knauf gypsum plaster is very simple and does not require a large set of tools. The essence of the installation is to combine grooves and ridges. The tongue-and-groove design of the joints ensures fast and accurate assembly. For a day of work, a master with an assistant can build 20 sq. m. partitions. The optimal ratio of the size of the slabs allows you to work with almost no waste, and the minimum of wet processes makes it easier to clean the room.

Knauf gypsum plaster can be easily processed with hand tools. Placing engineering networks is possible in the most convenient places for this. Electrical wiring and piping are installed in furrows that can be done with a power tool or by hand. Pipes are laid in grooves made by a cutter or cut by a strobe-maker.

Partitions with a maximum height of 3.6 m and a length of 6 m can be erected from gypsum tongue-and-groove plates 80 mm thick without any additional elements reinforcing the structure. In the case of large partitions, additional reinforcement is made.

The method of dry installation and the use of gypsum-based mixtures as an adhesive for KNAUF-Fugen slabs allows electrical installation and finishing work to be carried out within 30 - 40 minutes after the construction of the structure. The resulting monolithic structure with a wall thickness of only 80 mm has sufficient strength and provides convenient attachment of attachments. One of the requirements for interior partitions, which are presented by modern regulatory documents, is fire safety. Tests in accordance with Federal Law No. 123-FZ of July 22, 2008 showed that 80 mm thick gypsum tongue-and-groove partitions have a fire resistance limit of 2.5 hours. The tests took into account the "weakening" of the partition by the built-in communications.

The resulting surface of partitions made of gypsum tongue-and-groove plates is suitable for any finish (painting, wallpapering, facing with ceramic tiles, decorative plaster). The application of a leveling plaster layer is not required, which not only significantly reduces the production time, but also avoids additional costs.

Today in St. Petersburg, during the construction of every second new residential apartment building, KNAUF gypsum boards are used. The trust in Knauf products of most of the city's construction companies is the best evidence of the reliability of the system and the quality of the materials.
