The installation of Lumon frameless glazing is nearing completion in the Krona residential complex in Stavropol. The new complex is located in the very center of the city, at 427 Lenin Street.

The developer, a large Russian company "Brusnika", has attracted specialists from all over the world to create this complex. Polish architect Grzegorz Petszak from the international bureau Aedas worked on the concept of the new quarter. The firm has designed futuristic metro stations in Dubai and the even more fantastic Sandcrawler office complex in Singapore, inspired by the car from the epic Star Wars. In Russia, Grzegorz Petszak worked at the invitation of "Brusnika" on quarters in Tyumen and Novosibirsk.

Petshak himself was born and raised in Poland, in a residential area - an analogue of our Khrushchevs. The tightness of apartments there was compensated for by the spaciousness of green courtyards, and the modesty of the atmosphere was compensated by warm relations with neighbors, friendly courtyard companies of children. When creating new quarters, the architect pays great attention to the convenience of the layout of apartments, the creation of comfortable public spaces, and, of course, the adjacent territories, which he attaches no less importance to than the architecture of the building, creating a place for establishing friendly relations between neighbors.

Therefore, for the project of landscaping the courtyard, Brusnika attracted the OKRA bureau from the Netherlands.

Urban landscape design is the main activity and creativity of this workshop. Architects create new spaces in cities by combining parts and disparate elements into a single system. They created the project of the Parkcade and Westercade embankments in Rotterdam, which has now turned into a public space with greenery, flowers, and recreation areas by the water. The large-scale project of Cutty Sark Gardens on the waterfront in Greenwich has become a model for all urban spaces in London. Design work in Stavropol was carried out by the Tyumen bureau "Novograd".

Residential complex concept

The residential complex "Krona" is a ring of low buildings from 5 to 9 floors. In the center of the ring is a courtyard space without cars. Greenery, bike paths, jogging paths, playgrounds. Cars are hidden in the underground parking, which can be accessed from the adjacent streets. From the parking lot, lifts take residents to their apartments. Spacious halls on the ground floors provide places for communication, storage rooms for strollers, bicycles.

The buildings are made in natural colors of clinker bricks and wood, which creates visual comfort. Generous glazing - from hallways to loggias - allows maximum sunlight into the rooms.

The house was built using modern monolithic frame technology, which ensures the strength and durability of the building. Clinker bricks and decorative plaster are combined in the finishing of the facades. The architect chose a warm, rich brown brick shade, symbolizing reliability and warmth. The apartments are sunny and bright, as the project provides for large windows. Loggias and spacious balconies with Finnish frameless Lumon glazing allow maximum light into the living spaces.

Lumon balcony glazing

In this project, the architect chose a frameless type of glazing from the Finnish company Lumon. The LUMON 5 system is by far the most modern glazing system. In combination with Stopsol Phoenix special glass, the structure looks great on the façade, is functional and practical.

Grzegorz Petszak, the architect of the Stavropol project, says: “In Russia, loggias are covered with glass, like a box, and then unnecessary things are dumped there. Nowhere else is balconies treated like this. Customers, in order to control this process, want to glaze all the loggias at once so that there is no confusion. But there is a lot of glass on the line of the facade, and the building, which should look like a residential one, becomes an office building. The architect's task is to show that this is a residential building so that people do not think that they are going to the office, but feel that they are going home."

This task was solved by the architect by combining glass and wood-like panels on the facade. This unusual solution allows you to get away from the "office" of the facade and at the same time allows you to keep large windows and closed with a single glazing of the loggia, through which a lot of light enters the living quarters. This is especially important for windows overlooking the courtyard and first floor windows.

The architect chose modern Russian-made Stopsol Phoenix glass for glazing. It is a mirrored solar control glass. It protects the room from overheating by reflecting excess solar energy and visible light. On summer days, this property of glass will allow you to save on air conditioning.

Specularity creates an attractive appearance, hiding the interior of the loggia from prying eyes and creating an atmosphere of privacy. In this case, the glass is transparent from the inside. Glass is durable and durable, and does not lose its properties over time. The combination of transparency, color rendering and shading of Stopsol Phoenix glass creates a comfortable indoor atmosphere. However, the use of this glass does not lead to excessive darkening: there is no need to use artificial lighting during the day. Aluminum glazing profiles are covered with matt powder coating Tiger (Austria) to match the facade: this was the architect's intention.
