The complex with a total area of more than 60 thousand m2 is intended for all six brands of women's clothing, which are manufactured by Xin Hee. Marketers, designers and researchers of each brand will receive a petal in the new building. In the center of the resulting "flower" there is an atrium with a glass roof, where there is access not only to employees, but also to visitors. The bridge thrown over the atrium is planned to be used as a catwalk for fashion shows.
The authors compare the structure of the building with bones, and the polymer shell, which protects the interiors from the sun, with skin. Given the purpose of the building, the veil metaphor is also obvious. The flower-like layout gives each department autonomy, more sunlight, natural ventilation and outward views than a traditional "rectangular" layout; at the same time, getting from “petal” to “petal” is not difficult - the atrium plays the role of a connecting link, and the plan in general is centripetal, says Ma Yansun, head of MAD.
The building has terraces with gardens and a green roof. Solar panels are also installed on the roof (in Xiamen, there are about 2233 hours of sunshine per year). Among other eco-components of the project, in addition to the above-mentioned sunscreen membrane (it also filters the air from dust), there is a building spot reduced by 2/3: the ground floor is smaller in area, the building is raised above the ground on supports, and a garden accessible to the townspeople is arranged under it. with reservoirs, which is also adapted for collecting and filtering rainwater. In summer, the atrium draws cool air from this garden into the interior, and in winter it heats up like a greenhouse and spreads heat to the rest of the premises.
The design center is due to open in 2017.
