The FIRST Rotterdam skyscraper rises 128 meters above the city. Built in 2014 in the central area opposite the railway station, it has significantly changed the existing appearance of the urban architectural environment. The project was carried out by the architects bureau de Architekten Cie.b.v. commissioned by FIRST Rotterdam CV.
The construction of the FIRST Rotterdam skyscraper was the first stage in the reconstruction of the Weenapoint office complex. However, not only offices, but also apartments are located here. The project cost is estimated at 80 million euros.
In order not to violate the visual integrity of the area, the facade is made in the style of buildings located on the opposite side of the street. The building has 33 floors, including two underground, designed for a large car park. The base of the skyscraper is a parallelepiped with a height of 35 meters, on which two towers with an exploited green roof rest.
There are about 200 solar panels on the roof. They serve as a source of renewable energy. For air conditioning the premises, as well as for providing the building with hot water, systems with geothermal heat pumps are used here, which use natural sources of cold and heat from underground layers. The use of these and other technologies allowed the skyscraper to receive a BREEAM certificate upon completion of construction.
The facade of the building is decorated with polished Jurassic marble of the Maxberg Ramweis brand.
Solnhofen Stone Group. The volume of material used in the project was 9000 m².
Jurassic Maxberg marble is a fairly dense material that formed in the Frankish part of Bavaria about 160 million years ago. It is well polished, its technical characteristics allow it to be used for finishing both external and internal walls. It is perfect for cladding hotels, shops, banks, theaters, airports and other high-traffic buildings and spaces.
The stone is popular both abroad and in Russia. Jurassic marble is one of the few natural stones certified in our country for use on ventilated facades and having an F150 frost resistance index.
Solnhofen Stone Group is a German holding company that owns four stone processing plants and many Jurassic marble and limestone quarries in Bavaria. Beige and gray are the basic tones of the Jurassic Maxberg marble, mined in Germany.
Solnhofen Stone Group supplies its products all over the world: London, Berlin, Dubai, etc. In Moscow, the Jurassic marble Maxberg (trademark of SSG) can be seen, for example, on the facades of the objects "Garden Quarters", "Italian Quarters", Barkli Virgin House, "Andreevsky House" on Frunzenskaya, "House on Trubetskoy", "Cherry Garden" on Malaya Sukharevskaya Square, in the Sky-Light business center on Leningradsky Prospekt.
