Human striving for naturalness in everything makes architects develop new directions in architecture. One of such fashionable trends: "living facades". It is difficult to surprise someone in our time with static forms, improving proportions, decorative elements, shapes, color. Today one of the tasks of architecture is to create not an object, but a harmonious space for life, a space as close as possible to the natural landscape, taking into account the needs of people. New neighborhoods are also evaluated in terms of visual comfort.
It is very interesting to observe the development of various directions in the field of creating "living facades". The Finnish company Lumon OY proposed a fairly simple and budgetary option suitable for mass construction.
Mass construction develops according to its own laws, obeying, rather, economic processes than high art. The reality is that the population of cities has been growing since the beginning of the last century. People need comfortable but cheap housing. Microdistricts of mass development are distinguished by straight lines and corners, bare surfaces, and poor colors.
Architectural trends, striving to reduce the cost and availability of urban housing, have moved away from natural naturalness, proportions and detail. Decorative elements that adorn old buildings: columns, arcades, atlantes and caryatids, cornices, and ornamental inserts are used less and less by architects.
If we take a closer look at the ordinary buildings of the past centuries, we will notice that when creating an ordinary building, the architects paid great attention to details in the design of gates, entrances, and fences. Often the only objects for decoration were balconies, namely balcony railing. Balcony facade elements, subordinate to the general style and purpose of the structure, carried an aesthetic decorative function. They enhanced the expressiveness of the main architectural volume. Taking into account this experience, understanding the problems of modern architecture, which returns to multifaceted solutions, Finnish experts offer traditional designs for creating "living facades", applicable in modern economic realities in mass construction.
Lumon OY is known to professionals as
developer of the concept of frameless glazing and now also frameless fencing. Having been engaged in facade work for many years, communicating with architects and builders, the company's employees proposed a simple but interesting solution for projects of residential buildings with loggias: floating colored lattices.
Moving glazing parts simultaneously bear a decorative color load and, changing position from day to day, create the illusion of a “living facade”. If in a project it is difficult to avoid correct geometric shapes, to get away from straight lines and angles, then it is technically simple to create a "living facade" with the help of moving parts that complement the frameless glazing structures.
The color scheme plays an important role in providing a comfortable visual environment. Close to natural tones, rich, but not bright, multidimensional color solution helps to relieve eye strain and provide visual comfort. Grilles are made of 6063 aluminum alloy. It is a lightweight and durable material used on external glazing structures. It meets the requirements of Russian SNIPs. Powder coating technology allows architects to select the desired shade for the details of the "living facade".
Additional details reduce visual aggression. Floating grids allow you to get away from the correct geometric breakdown, arbitrary position brings variability, the facade
"Comes to life". The small area of the gratings allows them to be painted in rich soft tones, to bring the color of the building closer to the characteristic natural variety of shades. Deep glazed balconies add volume and layering to the frontal plane of the building.
