The Grand Prix of the Zodchestvo 2016 festival in the Projects section - the Vladimir Tatlin Prize - was awarded to the DNA AG workshop for the Dawn 3.34 project. The renovation will transform one of the buildings of the former Rassvet machine-building plant on Krasnaya Presnya into a loft-style apartment.
One of the most noticeable architectural techniques of the project, which without exaggeration determined not only the recognizable image, but also the urban environment around, was the solution of the main, extended facades of the building - the western and eastern ones. An extended plate, the parameters of which were inherited from a large factory building, is visually divided into six facades, differing in elements of the architectural solution and even - slightly - in height. As if we are facing a street consisting of small houses, subordinate to the same style, but not uniform. In fact, there is one section behind each facade. Inside, the west and east façades each have one two-story loft.
Brick facades are one of the important tools that allowed architects to emphasize the diversity and, at the same time, the integrity of the outer shell of the building. The differences between the facades of the sections emphasize the nuances of the shades and textures of the brickwork, playing in unison with the details of the laconic plastic. Functional areas are highlighted in the interiors of the apartments with the help of brick vertical planes. Inside, brick walls are combined with brutal concrete surfaces, black doors and metallic decorative elements.
For both facades and interiors, it is planned to use
different mixes of several collections of hand-molded bricks produced at the Russian factory "Donskiye Zori". Were selected series Divnogorie, Matveevsky, Elizavetsky, Chocolate, Stepnoy, Demidovsky, Starodonskaya. The use of textured bricks made it possible not only to emphasize the difference between the facades of the blocks and the spatial zones inside the building, but also to approach the sensations of historical masonry and thus fit the house into the context of the brick "prom" of the early 20th century characteristic of Krasnaya Presnya.
The supply of hand-molded bricks Donskiye Zori for the Rassvet 3.34 project is carried out by Firm KIRILL JSC.
