Archi-World Award® Academy honors the best student projects every two years; the winners get the opportunity to undergo an internship at renowned architectural firms This year, 1,500 students from all over the world competed for the victory. The projects had to correspond to the theme "Responsible architecture of the future". Among the 12 winners there are two Russians. These are Ainur Mustafin, a magistracy student at the Kazan State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (KGASU), and Marina Smirnova, a graduate of the Moscow Architectural Institute, who then continued her studies at the National Higher School of Architecture La Villette (Paris). The award for Ainur is a six-month internship at the Austrian bureau Coop Himmelb (l) au, and for Marina - at the French Agence Rudy Ricciotti.

The media library is an educational space that combines many functions and meets the needs of modern society to a greater extent than traditional library or museum spaces. The media library designed by Ainur is intended not only for gaining knowledge, but also for communication between citizens and for holding events of various sizes. High technology and modern design in this project coexist with natural elements. The transparency of the facades allows the building to practically dissolve into the environment. As conceived by Ainur, the media library will attract a large number of Kazan citizens not only for its expanded functionality, but also for its architectural appearance.
The diploma work was carried out under the guidance of Ilnar and Reseda Akhtyamovs (TIArch university studio).
Marina Smirnova

Revitalization project of Georgievskaya village, Vologda region
The goal of this project is to breathe new life into the village, where today 150 people live. A detailed analysis of the territory and composition of the population allowed Marina to formulate a number of proposals, the implementation of which could not only provide the necessary infrastructure for the residents of the Georgievskaya village of the Syamzhensky district, but also create conditions for urban families to move here. The concept is based on the use of the natural resource potential of the territory. The project provides for a full cycle of woodworking production, including a mini-thermal power plant using wood waste. Also, the author has developed a strategy for sustainable forest management.
Marina's work was carried out under the supervision of the Arkhpole architectural and industrial laboratory.
