November 2019 marks the 15th anniversary of RHEINZINK LLC - the Russian subsidiary of the German titanium-zinc producer RHEINZINK.
The general director of the company, Leonid Golovanov, spoke about the stages of the company's formation in the Russian market
Our company was founded on the visit of the owner of the RHEINZINK concern Ulrich Grillo to Russia at the beginning of the 2000s as part of a delegation of German industrialists and entrepreneurs.
Visiting Moscow and St. Petersburg, Mr. Grillo was impressed by the number of roofs in need of renovation and impressed by the market potential for his company. It was decided to create a subsidiary sales company in Moscow.
The main difficulty at the initial stage of the company's activity was that the titanium-zinc material as a building roofing material, being historically traditional in Europe, was not known on the Russian market at that time and had to be promoted "from scratch", using all possible marketing channels: exhibitions, seminars, publications in the press, etc. At the same time, it was necessary to cover all “target groups”: architects, designers, roofers, customers, etc.
Another challenge that the company faced in the Russian market and which, unfortunately, still exists today is the insufficient qualification of roofers and low culture on construction sites, which have a negative impact on the quality of installation work and require intensive technical support from our specialists.
In this regard, a roofing skill course was launched on the basis of the company's head office in Moscow, where tinsmiths receive both theoretical knowledge in the field of construction physics and the construction of roofing pies, as well as practical skills in processing RHEINZINK material, making complex assemblies and parts from it. More than 100 roofers from both Moscow and many regions of Russia have already completed this course.
The results of painstaking work to promote the material and technologies of RHEINZINK did not take long to wait: already in 2005-2007, the first significant objects appeared:
Moscow Planetarium, Legislative Assembly in Chelyabinsk, Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Moscow at ul. Prechistenka, Neglinnaya Plaza on Trubnaya Square, Residential complex on Kamenny Island in St. Petersburg.
In the following years, with active cooperation with architects, a number of significant new construction and redevelopment projects were implemented -
the Caribou hotel in Beloyarsk, the Ocean shopping center in Izhevsk, the New Stage of the Mariinsky Theater, the Crown Plaza hotel and the Royal Beach banquet hall in St. Petersburg, the Martial Arts Palace in Grozny, the Legislative Assembly and the Russian Railways Data Center in Yekaterinburg, the ropeway stations of the ski complex " Krasnaya Polyana "in Sochi, 1st and 2nd power units of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant, the Faculty of Humanities of Moscow State University, TC" Tsvetnoy ", BC" Bolshevik "," Stanislavsky "and" Danilovskaya Manufactory "in Moscow.
An important direction was the restoration of objects of historical and cultural heritage, within the framework of which the roofs of the Vladimir Cathedral in Kronstadt, the printing house of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad, the spire of the Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral in Moscow, as well as Moscow historical mansions, where currently mainly foreign diplomatic missions are located - the house of the merchant Igumnov (French Embassy),
Tsvetkov's mansion (former residence of the French military attaché), Lev Kekushev's houses on Ostozhenka (Egyptian Embassy) and Povarskaya (New Zealand Embassy), Rosenkampf House and others.
Of the last completed and currently being implemented objects, it is worth highlighting the Polytechnic Museum, the Ordynka residential complex (former Marat's factory) and GES-2 (Renzo Piano's project) in Moscow, the Boris Eifman Dance Academy and the Opera-Palace apart-complex in St. Petersburg.
RHEINZINK is grateful to all architects for the fruitful collaboration and the choice of RHEINZINK material for their projects. It is a great honor and high responsibility for us to cooperate with the workshops of both well-known venerable architects: N. Yavein, S. Tsytsin, E. Gerasimov, V. Lukomsky, Y. Grigoryan, A. Ginzburg, P. Andreev, A. Asadov, etc. and beginners young and ambitious. After all, RHEINZINK material allows you to bring any idea of an architect to life!
*** Congratulations from Nikolai Shumakov, President of the Union of Architects of Russia, President of the Union of Architects of Moscow
“On behalf of the Unions of Architects of Moscow and Russia, as well as on my own behalf, I congratulate the RHEINZINK company on the 15th anniversary of its activity in the Russian market.
During this, for our, not calm time, already quite a solid period, with the help of titanium-zinc RHEINZINK, a number of well-known and significant objects were built both in Moscow and in many regions of the country. Roofs and facades from RHEINZINK are not only reliable and durable protection of buildings, but also special beauty and aesthetics, as well as a significant contribution to "sustainable construction".
A great advantage of the company is the technical support provided to architects and designers, from the design of assemblies and parts to installation and operation.
I would like to wish the RHEINZINK team new interesting projects and further success in the Russian market!"
