Last week we talked about the results of the competition for the design of three new Moscow metro stations - Sheremetyevskaya, Rzhevskaya and Stromynka. Recall that the winners were determined by the residents of Moscow themselves. The three finalists selected by the jury for voting for each station, and their projects, can be found on the competition website. However, there were fifteen projects in total on the short list. In this article, we will tell you about six projects that were not put up for voting and were presented to the townspeople.
Station "Sheremetyevskaya"
Blank architects
The concept is based on the image of the theater. The lobby turns into a theater foyer, the platform turns into a stage, the passages serve as curtains, and the central place is occupied by a marble curtain that decorates the platform hall. On the pylons there are portraits of theatrical figures, so it would be convenient for passengers to make appointments, for example, "at Raikin's".
UNK Project
The station's design concept is based on "twisting" the arch, which is traditional for the Moscow metro, into a spiral. This technique is used both underground and in the ground lobby.
Station "Rzhevskaya"
Consortium ITR + DS (Germany) + ludiarchitects
The nearby Rizhsky railway station inspired the architects with associations with the Baltic states - the sea, seagulls, dunes. This theme is supported by various design elements of the station. Being in the central hall, you can imagine yourself on board the ship, watching through the arches-portholes for the "passing" trains. The floor is paved with sand-colored slabs, which also allows you to mentally travel to the coast. And if you look at the station from the train window, the arches turn into seagulls hovering over the water.
JSB "Borodavchenko & Partners"
The underground design is based on a combination of brick and metal. The station hall is “overlapped” by massive brick vaults, the walls along the platforms are finished with perforated metal. In the external appearance of the ground pavilion, the old and the new compete: on the one hand, the facade is brick, more traditional, on the other, it is modern glass.
Station "Stromynka"
AI Architects
The architects "rocked" the columns, and their section was changed from the traditional square to the round one. The reason for this was the association with a rickety track post, since Stromynka Street was the initial section of the ancient Stromyn road. The design of the pavilion reflected the proximity of Sokolniki Park. Its forms are consonant with the rotunda, traditional for park architecture, and snow-white tiles are used for decoration.
UNK Project
The architects made the main design element of the station a modern pattern of circles, which not only serves as a decoration, but also allows you to navigate in the passenger flow. The ground pavilion is organically integrated into the existing urban environment, but at the same time it is clearly visible.
