The hall where the winners of the Eco-Tectonics award were awarded was decorated with bundles of white balloons. The balloons bore the inscription “10 years of nanotechnology”. Nearby was a fold-out table with a bag of horse dung. The brand of granular fertilizer was called the tragic nickname of Vronsky's horse "Fru-fr", and the stand was popular.
“We are often accused of setting too lenient conditions. They say that it is necessary to take to the competition only those projects that have been certified according to the international environmental standard. But there are several dozen truly "green" objects throughout the country. If such conditions are set, then the competition can be omitted,”says Svetlana Duving, head of the Eco_tektonika festival and director general of NAUR.
According to Svetlana Duving, today the goal of the award is to involve as many people as possible in green construction. The mission of the competition is rather educational: projects should theoretically comply with the BREAM standard, which at least needs to be studied for this. The jury considers not only the implementations, but also the concepts.
The Eco-Tectonics festival itself, held on the territory of an eco-hotel in Tarusa, on the one hand, has an entertaining format with a quest-game for children, trays with folk crafts and hammocks between trees. On the other hand, according to the plan of the organizers, it should serve as a platform for obtaining professional information. This year's theme was eco-cities.
“It is necessary that the environment provides people with the opportunity to live at a very high level. This is very important”, - the guest of Eco-Tectonics, the Briton Poaran Dizay, dispelled the idea of eco-settlements as hippie colonies.
Dizae founded the consulting company BioRegional, which deals with urban development projects in sustainable areas around the world. Your pilot project
He implemented BedZED in London in 2000. Several hundred residents of this village have long abandoned parking in favor of car sharing, drive electric cars, use renewable resources and do without heating in the British climate thanks to thermal insulation. So they use 50% less energy and water, and 80% less heat. The demand for such real estate in Europe and the USA is growing: it is cheaper to operate, and a square meter in such houses costs the same as in ordinary ones.
How far Moscow is from London in this respect - it became clear from the speech of Ilya Mochalov, vice-president of the Association of Landscape Architects of Russia. According to the study he referred to, about 1,000,000 m2 of green space have been planted in the British capital over the past 12 years.2 roofs. Thus, the authorities intend to use another 32% of London buildings. The architect calculated that if plants were planted on only 5% of Moscow roofs, then the area of such recreational areas would be 70 hectares, which is almost like five Zaryadye parks.
“The existing regulatory and legal framework does not provide an opportunity to develop this topic in Moscow,” Ilya Mochalov lowered the audience to the ground. “The Moscow design and improvement rules are, in my opinion, completely destructive in this respect.” However, he assured that the Association of Landscape Architects is working to change them, a new GOST is being drawn up, which may be adopted next year, and a recent document from the Ministry of Construction already allows developers to include areas of a green roof in the balance of green spaces.
A kind of alternative to green roofs was offered by the stand of NeoSun Energy - their solar panels can not be installed on top of the roof, but can be used as a roofing material, they can withstand a load of up to 500 kg / m2.
“We make glass blocks with an integrated solar panel and mount them on the outer glass,” says Anatoly Fedorov, director of the Teplorium company. A resident of Skolkovo, Teplorium produces translucent structures in Cheboksary, which, in terms of their energy efficiency, exceed the requirements for glazing of passive buildings by 60%. In terms of resistance to heat transfer, their window and stained-glass structures are close to a deaf opaque wall (Rw = 2.39 (m2K) / W). ***
This year, applicants for the Eco-Tectonics Prize had to use nanomaterials in their projects. Or, at the very least, describe which ones could be applied. This proposal was made by the general partner of the competition, the Rusnano corporation. Perhaps that is why the number of submitted works has become a little less - about a hundred applications from almost forty cities in Russia and abroad. They were assessed in five nominations: housing, commercial and public buildings, open public spaces and common areas, interior design, student project. The winners of the main prizes were chosen, there were three of them.
first place
The hotel concept that won the first place on the territory of the Italian castle of Rokkamandolfi will not be implemented. “The project was being prepared for another competition, a European one, which was carried out by development companies,” says its author, Nizhny Novgorod architect Yevgeny Monakhov. - The main task was to create a tourist cluster to increase the tourist attractiveness of the ancient fortification on the top of the mountain. But at the same time it was impossible to disrupt its ecosystem."
Evgeny Monakhov and his colleagues designed a lightweight structure made of metal profiles, which was placed on a slope without concrete, using mechanically adjustable supports. They wrote it in such a way that if you look at the mountain from side views, the hotel is invisible, and you can see only the exploited terraces with greenery. The architect used traditional heat pumps, low-emission glass and rainwater collection tanks in the project.
second place
Nikita Kapiturov from the St. Petersburg bureau Snegiri Architects is just starting to implement his project of the GorkaDom eco-house.
third place
The third place was awarded to Ilya Meytys for the Welna eco-hotel in Tarusa, where the festival was held.
Another project, which was being prepared for the European competition, won in the "Student Works" nomination. Yekaterinburg resident Konstantin Tkachuk has developed a concept for the renovation of residential buildings and adjoining territory in Madrid. “This is an example of a real renovation,” joked the jury.
Students sent almost half of all applications to the competition. According to the organizers, the quality of their projects is quite high and there is hope that in five years there will be much more truly "green" buildings in Russia.
“The design ideology and the internal value system of architects began to change. Professionals, finally, began to write directly in their applications that all these solar panels, heat pumps and other innovative technologies are not an end in themselves, but are used to fully ensure the harmonious coexistence of man and nature, Svetlana Duving commented on the results of the competition.
