In Billund, LEGO was "born" in the 1940s, and its headquarters defines a lot there. Therefore, it is not surprising that the LEGO House was built in
in the very center of the city, on the site of the former town hall. This is one of the measures to transform Billund into a "children's capital".
The building looks like it is composed of huge LEGO blocks (there are 21 in total), grouped around a 2000 m2 plaza, illuminated through cracks and gaps between them. Thanks to its permeable composition, LEGO House serves as an extension of the public space of the city, it can be walked through if you need to shorten the path. In addition, the roofs of individual blocks serve as play terraces, where you can climb the steps, which at the same time play the role of tribunes - in case of an open-air performance.
The plaza in the center of Lego House is surrounded by a cafe, restaurant, shop and conference center. Above are the play areas and exhibition halls: to get there, you need to buy a ticket. For ease of orientation, the interiors and roofs of the blocks have received one of four "primary colors": red - creative, blue - cognitive, green - social, yellow - emotional.
At the very top is the Gallery of Masterpieces with round windows in the floors resembling spikes of LEGO bricks. The best works of the constructor fans are exhibited there. At the bottom of the building is a historical exhibition dedicated to the origins of the company and the brand, including an exhibition of all the "first editions" of LEGO sets ever produced.
The proportions of building blocks, tiles, etc. based on the classic 2x4 brick.
The LEGO House, or, as it is also called, the "Home of the Brick", a 23-meter-high structure with a total area of 12,000 m2, is expected to attract more than 250,000 visitors a year.
