The Moscow Urban Forum is a concentrated meeting place for decision-makers: officials, businessmen, experts: architects, urbanists, sociologists, economists, ecologists, and even city rights activists. The opportunity to communicate with city mayors and ministers, to understand where the world is heading, to compare development strategies. The urban boom in Moscow over the past five or eight years is partly the result of the first FFM in 2011.
The topic of this year's forum is “The metropolis of the future. New space for living. " It will be located in Zaryadye Park in the Philharmonic Hall, designed by Vladimir Plotkin and TPO Reserve. The building will be opened to the public for the first time for the sake of the FUF and will be closed immediately after the festival, because everything is not yet ready there. The halls and auditoriums of the festival are named after the town planners "Shchusev", "Corbusier", "Niemeyer", "Osman", "Ren" - as before, when the forum was held in the Manege, but they are located, I repeat, in the Zaryadye concert hall. Don't be confused.
Foreign experts have always come to the FUF, who not only spoke at the forum, but also advised the Moscow government. The eighth forum breaks all records for the representativeness of speakers. They promised, for example, to be representatives of international housing organizations UN-Habitat and the OECD. Alexey Kudrin, the dean of the economics department of Moscow State University, Alexander Auzan, and the head of the teaching and research laboratory of Moscow State University, Sergey Kapkov, are taking part in the business program. The main hits of the FFM are performances by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, American urbanist Richard Florida and economist Bruce Katz.

Traditionally, the Moscow Urban Forum hosts meaningful plenary sessions with reports from the Moscow government, speeches by Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and foreign experts. The “Connecting Generations” festival, which is open to everyone, offers a varied program. The program is divided into three parts. The lecture and educational part of the festival is aimed at, with the participation of famous Russian and foreign architects, economists, scientists, business representatives in the format of lectures and discussions, to formulate clear answers to questions related to the comfort of older residents, management of an apartment building, homeless people and animals., start-ups and the housing market.
The townspeople will be met by William Powers, author of books on slow, simple life - a man who, for the sake of experiment, moved from New York to a small wooden house in the wilderness; Cecile Corti, Chairman of the VinziRast Association for the social adaptation of the homeless in Vienna; Adriana Friedman, founder of Nepsid, the Center for Research on Symbolism, Childhood and Development in Brazil. Within the framework of the Festival program, there will also be a workshop “How to Create a Community” from the Vector online school.
As part of the cultural and entertainment program, the townspeople will see premiere screenings of films about world megacities from Beat Films, a competition of urban startups, theater and musical performances from Playtronica and urban master classes from German artists Raubdruckerin. Festival visitors will be able to taste street food, sign up for excursions and quests around the capital, take part in a photography competition, dance a waltz on the amphitheater stage and attend a large-scale concert of independent alternative music from artists from different parts of the world after sunset. Also, festival visitors will be able to practice yoga on the floating bridge of the Zaryadye Park.
The Moscow Urban Forum will also host the Urban Initiatives Laboratory - an open competition for innovative, spatial and socio-cultural projects for environmental development. In 2018, the Laboratory will be held with the support of the Department of Territorial Development. V. L.
