The new Palais des Congrès is located on a long and narrow stretch along the sea, forming a "sea façade" of the city almost 350 meters long - more like a new image of Palma from the coast, than just a building, albeit a large one.
On the water side, the facade is made very thick - five meters high, and shipbuilding techniques were used during its construction. It protects the interior from the sun and contains stairs and other objects that connect different rooms and functions. These objects seem to be both inside and outside, because the sea is visible through the glazing. Architects compare this façade to a city wall that is both thick and permeable in places.
Compared to the sea, southern façade, the northern wall of the congress center looks more severe, closed, “private”, since it is occupied by office premises.
In the interior, conference and exhibition halls follow each other; their volumes "suspended" in space connect passages and platforms from where you can see the sea. On the upper floor, connected with the hotel by a bridge, there are small halls and restaurants, as well as a large terrace.
The project budget is 96.5 million euros. The area of the congress center with parking is 37,700 m2, the area of the hotel is 17,700 m2.
