Moscow bureau Syndicate won the competition for the project of a cinema pavilion for the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art. Their concept was named the best among the six final projects of the competition. The Garage Screen pavilion, proposed by Syndicate, is a truncated pyramid with holographic facades, as if floating above the ground. A temporary cinema is planned to be built this spring on Arts Square, opposite the main museum building in Gorky Park.

The bold shape, unusual material and high functionality of the pavilion set a different approach to the design of temporary buildings and cinemas in particular. how

said Daria Zhukova, co-founder of Garage, that the bureau "offered not only an architectural concept, but, first of all, a new experience of visiting a cinema." “We see it not as a box where you can just go in and watch a movie,” explains the author of the project, Viktor Stolbovoy. - It is a dynamic object that interacts with the context, constantly different depending on the viewing angle. The materials we offer are not typical of summer cinemas."

When developing the project, the authors focused on the former restaurant "Vremena Goda", in 2015

reconstructed by Rem Koolhaas for the main building of "Garage". Holographic facades, neon signs and red velvet curtains create a festive mood and remind of the days when going to the cinema was a festive occasion. Due to the volume raised above the ground, the inner space of the pavilion visually connects with the space of Gorky Park.
