With a height of 578 m, it will be 10 times higher than the Cheops pyramid in Giza, and its construction will take at least 30 years. The authors of the project, the leaders of the Friends of the Great Pyramid organization, do not hide that this is primarily a commercial project designed to revive the economy of Saxe-Anhalt, a former East German territory. Large-scale construction should create thousands of jobs. Then, entrepreneurs hope, those who plan to buy a place in the new pyramid for their future resting place, or those who will already have their relatives and friends buried in this huge cemetery, as well as just tourists, will go to this area. Churches and other religious centers will open nearby, and, as a result, the pyramid should enrich not only its owners, but the inhabitants of the entire region.

A burial cell in it will cost, depending on the size, up to 700 euros. If desired, it will be possible to mark it with an individual tombstone. The main building material will be concrete, and the Bauhaus University in Weimar has already made the necessary calculations and recognized the construction of such a structure as real. Construction will begin in 2008, but since the work will progress as funds from future clients are received, the authors of the project assume that their brainchild is unlikely to surpass the height of the tomb of Cheops in the next 20 years. An architectural competition will soon begin to determine the appearance of the new "Great Pyramid". It is reported that Rem Koolhaas and Miuccia Prada agreed to join the jury.
