A complex of four buildings with a total area of 77,000 m2 will appear by 2021 in the harbor of Oyropahafen, which is now being transformed from an industrial zone into a mixed development area. Europahafenkopf will become the “keystone” in this ensemble, figuratively linking it with the historic center of Bremen (which is only four stops away by public transport). Thus, new buildings will receive completions reminiscent of pitched roofs, as well as a dark red color - like brick Renaissance houses and churches of the Hanseatic city. Port warehouses and elevators became the second source of inspiration.
At ground level, all four buildings will have gallery-loggias with public functions (also quite a traditional element): cafes, shops, exhibition halls and a food market will open there. This program will keep the employees of the offices on the upper floors in the area and attract buyers of apartments there; The proximity of water makes these commercial spaces particularly attractive.
The smallest building, Mobilitäts Haus, will have red metal facades; it will be a modern garage with a priority for electric vehicles and electric bicycles; there will also be bike rental and car sharing. The largest office Zechhaus (named after the developer, Zech Group GmbH) will be built of red concrete. Two residential towers, Lofthaus Nord and Lofthaus Süd, will be built of red brick: in them, commercial apartments will coexist with social ones.
