The sports complex La Fontaine, with its varied program, is designed simultaneously for schoolchildren nearby and for all residents of the Parisian suburb of Anthony. In addition, it plays the role of a landmark, standing out among the mass development and greenery (La Fontaine park and a strip of garden plots owned by the townspeople).
The complex faceted shape is emphasized by the golden color of the facade panels made of copper, aluminum and tin alloy, in places perforated. The appearance of a nugget or a gemstone immediately attracts attention and arouses curiosity, a desire to come closer - and close a passer-by will be able to look inside through the glazing surfaces and may wish to become a visitor to La Fontaine.
The building is almost entirely bisected by a "green rift" that provides the interiors with natural light as a light well. The landscaping of the sports complex also includes a filter garden to retain rainwater.
The "Rift" divides the building into two wings, a school and a city one. Each is entitled to a large gym; the program also includes premises for boxing, martial arts, a climbing wall and a multifunctional gym. The total construction area is 5200 m2, the budget is 14.3 million euros, the energy consumption is less than 65 kWh / m2 / year.
