Hackney's London district, which became popular with representatives of the "creative industry" from traditionally disadvantaged at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, is a logical place for another Second Home coworking space. This company offers a mix of quirky workspaces that fight office boredom with a variety of additional spaces - cafes, nurseries, community centers, and more. We have already written about its branch in Los Angeles on the Selgascano project; the project in question now, in the London Fields area, was handled by another Madrid office, Cano Lasso Arquitectos.

The coworking building appeared on Mayor Street in the late 19th century as a neo-Romanesque Morley Hall theater, which turned into a cinema in the 1900s. During World War II, it lost its spectacular facade, and in the 1960s its ruins were almost completely rebuilt into offices. With the current renovation, the question arose about a new, noticeable facade that would fit the unusual program inside.
The architects immediately proposed the idea of a "veiled facade" that would arouse interest by analogy with a veil on a woman's face (they cite an example from the ancient Roman historian Tacitus about Poppaea, the wife of Emperor Nero) and made viewing a more complicated and time-consuming process. Originally became
the aviary at London Zoo Cedric Price, but such a metal mesh structure required airspace on all sides, which was not suitable for the façade situation. A more suitable source was the lightweight designs of Fry Otto, but the shape of his membranes was determined by the force of gravity and supports, and in London it was not about a conventionally parallel earth, but a vertical surface.

Another source was the spider web, most often woven in the right plane (it also inspired Otto): as a result, the ETFE membrane consists of a series of radial zones with stress rings in the center, from which gravitational and wind loads are transmitted to the building frame from using light "tripods".
The interior is as far as possible from the usual office "functionalism". It is a flowing space without any hierarchy, divided by furniture, houseplants and transparent partitions into sub-zones. These barriers can be easily moved, and thus the “landscape” and “atmosphere” of coworking space can change. Human perception and its relativity, color and light, fragility, transparency, references to nature play an important role.
