The building of the Bargationovsky market was built next to the metro station of the Filevskaya line of the same name, next to the notorious Gorbushka, on the site of the former open tent market, according to the concept of the Wowhaus architects, and the UNK project was implemented by 2018. Its main façade, facing Barclay Street, in silhouette vaguely resembles the wide tongs of traditional warehouses and at the same time, if you turn on your imagination, the enlarged contours of the stalls that used to be in this place. The zigzag has built-in lanterns according to the principle of shed lights, illuminating the interior space with natural light.

The rest of the volume is a pragmatic parallelepiped, and is supported by a metal frame with a large-span structure.

The concept of the market develops a genre that has been popular in the last 5-7 years: a market combined with cafes and shops, and in this case, industrial goods and parking - similar to the Depot on Lesnaya, the so-called "Central" on Trubnaya or Danilovsky market. The first floor is given over to shops, including manufactured goods, and shops and cafes lined up along the street have separate entrances from it, reinforcing the element of the “urban” typology of retail space, as opposed to the classical isolation of a clean shopping center. Although, according to the Wowhaus architects, “in the course of the project, the concept of filling the market according to the financial model changed and the commercial side outweighed the public one. It was not possible to fully preserve the original image."

The facade has changed quite significantly during the design period. At the request of the customer, the outdoor façade was combined with FunderMax exterior HPL panels imitating wood, the gaps between which formed a large leaf pattern of an ornamental and eco-friendly theme. The new version of the facade was carried out by the architects of the UNK project under the leadership of GAP Alexander Sokolov.

It turned out quite seamlessly and to some extent more, let's say, "festive", primarily because of the white background. The idea of city shops with an exit to Barclay Street was preserved, but their glass front deepened in a modernist way, emphasizing the "overhanging" of the upper volume and getting a kind of visor over it.

The interiors of the shopping center were also designed by Alexander Sokolov, but this time on his own, having founded Reframe architects bureau in the process of working on Bagrationovsky.

The structure of the interior has also changed during the design process. According to the concept, almost a third (slightly less) of the building from the metro side was assigned to a double-height atrium. In its lower part there was a row of shops, and the top was open. Two-thirds (slightly more) on the right were two-story and were treated as a balcony overlooking the atrium, although inside they were quite densely filled with retail spaces. The first floor, on the other hand, was occupied by free-standing retail outlets, between which one could freely move in all directions.

After the changes, the structure of the lower and upper floors changed places: the layout of points, regularly placed in space, but freely streamlined by people, moved to the second floor, and the first one turned out to be more densely planned, with a loop of corridors around the center. Thus, it was possible to accommodate more retail space downstairs, which is logical from the point of view of a higher rental price on the first floors. In addition, a number of shops along the northwest wall received a second tier, and the atrium is preserved, but it looks like a corridor of double width and height.

Thus, both the food stalls and the food court stretched from the atrium side were able to use the natural light of the shed lanterns. The metal structures of the spans are open at the request of the customer, which is not only relevant for a couple of decades, but also helps to present the interior space as higher and more spacious. The atrium is illuminated by tall white lanterns that accentuate its height.

The imagery of the interior echoes the facade with vertical aluminum slats imitating wood. It is built on three ideas: an abundance of greenery, wood (pine timber was used for furniture) and a simple, clear organization of space elements in the form of a modular black metal lattice.

The interior turned out to be typical for a modern food court: natural wood combined with imitation, black color and greenery, several types and types of lighting, open metal ceiling structures - all this adds up to a recognizable image of a "hipster" space where delicious food and appointments are made.
