Architect Rodney Leon (bureau "Aaris") presented the project in the form of "ancestral chambers", based on the religious ideas of the peoples of Africa, in particular, Congo. His proposal is a three-dimensional symbol of the world order: the crossroads to the world of the living and the world of the dead, symbolizing the eternal movement of the soul from birth through life and death to the next incarnation in the physical body.

At the same time, the author draws the viewer's attention to the inadmissibility of slavery as a horrific violation of human rights, calls on to reflect on the fate of thousands of people forcibly taken away from their homeland. He sees in his project a future international memorial, appealing to all people, regardless of their nationality. Its educational and didactic significance is also emphasized.

Due to the fact that African culture is only slightly Christianized, the complex provides places for libations and other sacrifices to the souls of ancestors.
