The so-called "massport" was designed by the St. Louis branch of the architecture firm Hellmut Obata & Kassabaum - HOK. The cost of the new building is about $ 482 million. Building with an area of 64,000 sq. m was decided in the form of a stepped volume, decreasing in the direction of the runway. The complex includes a main terminal with eight exits for passengers, an auxiliary terminal with ten exits and an underground tunnel connecting them. The usable area of both terminals is increased due to the extensive "bay windows" of prismatic shapes, which are occupied by shops and halls. The facade of the new building is a curtain wall made of aluminum panels and glass.

The HOK is only part of a massive $ 4.4 billion airport redevelopment program. It is planned to be completed in 2006. This cost is justified given the fact that Logan Airport has a passenger turnover of 27 million per year and is the 20th largest in the world.
