The goal of the university leadership is to stimulate the cultural activity of students and 3300 researchers who will use the library. It should become a new center for the ensemble of the University and the entire city.
Zaha Hadid in her project made it a continuation of the surrounding park - gradually growing out of the surface of the earth. The spacious public spaces in the interior of the library, which offer panoramic views of the city, contribute to creating a pleasant atmosphere there.
On the south side there are reading rooms, on the north - premises for various social events.
On the second floor, student rooms for classes and an auditorium for 600 seats are planned. The ceiling of the lobby and the main three-level public space are glazed, which makes them the semantic center of the building.
The new library, Hadid said, is geared towards learning based on the latest technology. It is due to open in 2008.
