In a speech at the opening ceremony, Brown praised the architect's work, describing the building as a "design classic."
The £ 180m building is located in an abandoned dock in Glasgow Harbor; in such an environment, his appearance had to be especially expressive.
The new TV and radio center houses the second largest television studio in the country with an area of 790 m and a height of 4 floors. The system of seats there is designed for 320 people, and its design allows them to be removed and re-nominated, depending on the tasks of the director of the program. The complex is also the first studio facility in Europe to operate in a high quality HD system and fully digital format.
With a total usable area of 34,000 sq. m in the building is designed for 1200 employees; a special place is occupied by the space for holding receptions of 500 sq. m.
In the center of the building there is an atrium designed in the form of a huge staircase of platforms and terraces. It serves as the main recreational area and a link between different parts of the building. At the same time, the administrative and technical departments of the television center are intermixed in order to avoid the isolation of separate zones.
