A special feature of the assignment was the unification of the Museum of Contemporary Art - MOCA and the Urban Planning Exhibition - PE in one building MOCAPE. Therefore, the exhibition complex had to be adapted not only for the exhibition of works of art, but for holding various kinds of public events to inform the residents of Shenzhen about new buildings and urban development projects that will be implemented in their city.
Therefore, MOCAPE was to become the center of social life amid the development of a new "Futian Culture Quarter". Austrian architects entered their building into the already developed master plan of its territory. Its height will reach 40 m. A complex spatial solution of its volume was obtained due to the gradual rotation of individual tiers of the building relative to each other, starting from the ground level and ending with the ceilings. Also, this decision allowed to locate the main entrance of MOCAPE directly on the main axis of the general plan of the "quarter of culture" and on the route of the main human flows. The resulting shape is called "active wave" by the architects. It is planned to use black anodized metal and black glass as the main building materials for the facade to emphasize the "frozen" position of the dynamic volume of the building.
