The building will appear in Matrah, on the embankment of this port city. It will replace the existing 1960s building, which has become too cramped for the market, which is very popular with locals and tourists.
The Matrah embankment, one of its main attractions, skirts the rounded line of its harbor. According to the same principle, the new building will be surrounded by a semicircular adobe wall, which will be an environmentally friendly solution, also associated with the tradition of local architecture. The wavy outlines of the floors are inspired, according to the architects, by the lines of Arabic calligraphy. The roof will be made of aluminum plates, which will partially transmit light and provide natural ventilation.
Inside there will be sales areas, refrigerators, fish cutting and packing departments, cafes. A pier will be built nearby.
