To generate the 21 MINI Opera Space, the architects used fragments from Mozart's Don Giovanni and Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze. The resulting "spikes" should, in their opinion, take the sound waves of city noise upward, contributing to the soundproofing of the building.
This is a temporary structure designed for repeated assembly and dismantling (in Munich it will stand until July 31, then it will move from one European city to another, but will return to Bavaria in a year - for the next festival). Its walls are made up of perforated aluminum panels mounted on a steel frame. The carpet is replaced by the red plastic covering of the entrance ramp. The 21 MINI Opera Space has a budget of 2.1 million euros.
On June 24, in the small hall of the pavilion, the opening performance of the festival will be given - the opera Remdoogo - Via Intolleranza II, a project by provocateur director Christoph Schlingensief. This work is connected with modern architecture not only with the premiere site - it is a kind of advertisement for the "first African opera village" Remdoogo, which is being built at the initiative of Schlingensief in Burkina Faso. It was erected by the local architect Francis Kéré, known all over the world for his eco-friendly and cheap buildings, using the techniques of traditional architecture. Via Intolleranza II is an African-inspired work Intolleranza 1960 by the Italian avant-garde composer Luigi Nono, dedicated to the themes of racism, intolerance and state power.
