The site of the Sochi Olympics farthest from Russia will consist of a skating rink with stands for 1000 people and a rectangular block of the exhibition pavilion. On the big screens, Londoners and guests of the 2012 Olympics will see what awaits them in Sochi - sports facilities, films about the culture and traditions of the Krasnodar Territory, etc. figure skating master classes, and twice a day - an ice show.
The project, according to Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, is being carried out in partnership with the municipality of Westminster. The London City Hall has already approved it as a whole - it remains to agree on the details. The architectural and engineering solution of the Sochi Center, according to the Organizing Committee, will be made in the corporate style of the Sochi Games. The pavilion consists of two rectangular volumes with biomorphic facades, connected by transparent ceilings above the road. Its end adjoins the rink and is connected to it by two passages.
This project, as Chernyshenko emphasized, will pay off completely: its financing (mainly, the lease of the site) will be carried out at the expense of the proceeds from the sale of tickets for ice performances.
