The Universiades, hosted by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), are considered the largest sports competition after the Olympic Games. Therefore, for their implementation, an equally developed infrastructure was required, which consisted of a specially built sports center of three arenas and a football stadium.
The sports center includes the main stadium of the Universiade (60,000 spectators), a multifunctional arena (18,000) and a swimming pool (3,000), grouped around a central plaza and an artificial lake. All three have a crystalline form: their steel frames are formed from triangular modules covered with a translucent shell.
The overlappings of arenas have an offset of up to 65 m; the diameters of the oval main stadium are 310 m and 290 m.
Bao-an Stadium is dedicated to football matches, although there will be track and field events there after the Universiade. His image is inspired by the bamboo forests of southern China: around the bowl of the arena with 44,000 seats, slender green supports are installed in two rows - steel pipes up to 32 m high. Behind them is the first "circulation" area of the stadium, from where spectators can climb to the upper tier of the stands or immediately go to the bottom.
Half of the supports in the inner row support the upper stands, so their diameter (80 cm) is larger than that of the others (55 cm).
The spectator's seats are closed by a membrane overlap with an extension of 54 m, supported by 36 pairs of cables.
