In an effort to fit the wind turbine into the landscape as naturally as possible, the developers opted for a two-blade design over the traditional three-blade design. When it is completely calm, the blades occupy a vertical position and visually align in one thin line with the rack.
In addition to the aesthetic, the authors of the project also pursued a technical goal. The conceptually new blade model captures even weak winds, which allows it to generate almost continuous power.
The prototype of the blade was developed in the city of Rovereto in a specially created laboratory called the "giraffe house". The turbine blades towering over the laboratory building really resemble the silhouette of a giraffe.
Serial production of the new wind turbines will begin at the end of the testing period, which will take another year. The turbines are planned to be used in Enel Green Power wind farms both in Italy and abroad - in the United States, France, Spain and Greece.
