The 110th anniversary of Ivan Nikolaev, one of the leaders of the Soviet avant-garde and those who stood at the origins of Russian industrial architecture, has a program of events at the VKHUTEMAS gallery. The exhibition “Ivan Nikolaev. Science of the Russian Avant-garde ", which presents the works of the architect of the 1920-60s. from the collection of the MARCHI Museum and the family archive of Maria Shubina. In them - the long creative path of Nikolaev, from student experiments within the walls of the Moscow Higher Technical School to projects when he was the rector of the Moscow Architectural Institute. On November 7, the gallery will host a lecture and a video show dedicated to the buildings of Nikolaev in the 1920s and 1930s, including his famous commune house for students of the Textile Institute. And on November 9, an unusual performance will take place at VKHUTEMAS - a study of the sensory-object connections of architecture and music of the era of constructivism. On November 10, Ivan Nikolaev's book "Aqueducts of Ancient Rome", which the architect prepared back in 1947 based on the materials of his doctoral dissertation, will be presented here for the first time, but never published in full.
On November 9, the next festival of innovative technologies in architecture and construction "Green Project 2011" starts at the Central House of Artists on Krymsky Val. The organizers - the Union of Architects of Russia and the ARD-Center agency - have prepared a two-day program of master classes and discussions on the problems of designing energy-sustainable buildings, green certificates, sustainable urban planning, etc. The festival will host the Eco-Sustainable Habitat Exhibition and the Eco-Sustainable Position conference.
In Yekaterinburg on November 10, the architectural publishing house TATLIN opens a large festival "White Tower 2011". The very name of the festival - in honor of the never-restored monument of the avant-garde, the water tower of UZTM - indicates its task: to draw attention to the preservation of this layer of heritage. The central event of the festival will be the competition of the same name for projects and buildings in 2010-2011. The rest of the program, which has already been implemented for several months, includes exhibitions (including competitive projects for the reconstruction of the UZTM Tower, Wooden Architecture of Riga, Skladni by Eduard Kubensky, Designing the Future - Werner Sobek and ILEK, etc.), excursions to newly built Yekaterinburg objects and lectures by Russian and foreign celebrities - Vladimir Plotkin, Jose Aselbio, Alexander Dolgov, Eric Van Egeraat, Werner Sobek, etc.
The traveling exhibition "ABD architects: 20 years of dialogue", timed to coincide with the studio's anniversary, has arrived in St. Petersburg.
