The U-shaped building will continue the architect's favorite theme of porosity: it is partially raised above the ground to create new ones and not block old paths through the campus. The ensemble itself was built according to the general plan of the 1930s and combines the classicistic axial composition with an abundance of greenery. Hall's project emphasizes the main axis of the ensemble and reinforces its "vegetative" component: replacing the buildings occupied by the 1970s. squares, the architect gives the university a new green public space - a courtyard in the center of his building.
The new building will be constructed of fiber-reinforced concrete and incorporate local stone and wood, with white walls to echo the original campus, with low-rise plastered buildings combining Art Deco and Modern elements that earned the campus the nickname “White City”.
The building is intended for graduate students of the faculties of law and economic sciences: on an area of 6,400 m2 there will be an auditorium for 600 people, a variety of classrooms, cafes and public spaces. One of the "legs of the letter P" will be raised relative to the rest of the volume; its rooftop terraces offer views of the mountains and campus. The other "leg", on the contrary, will smoothly descend to the ground level, where a water garden will be arranged, where rainwater and suitable for reuse water will flow. This system will be powered by solar panels on the roof: in total, they will provide 15% of the electricity needed by the building. Part of the roof will be landscaped.
The temperate climate of Bogota will make it possible to do without air conditioning and heating, and the natural ventilation of the premises will make the connection between the interior and exterior spaces even closer, conceived by the Hall.
