The 400-meter Peruri 88 in the capital of Indonesia is another "high-rise city" with offices, housing, a luxury hotel, as well as a mosque and a "wedding house". Architects MVRDV placed at the base of the complex, from the 2nd underground to the 7th above ground tiers, shops and restaurants; a 4-level garage is also provided.
The main volume of the building is surrounded by additional blocks reaching half of its height. Their rooftops and terraces feature gardens, swimming pools, outdoor cafes, spas, a cinema and an amphitheater, available to both residents and office employees. Above, from 44th to 86th floors, the hotel will be located. At the highest, 88th level, an observation deck and a panoramic restaurant will open.
The DUO Ole Scheren Towers in Singapore are less bizarre: the concave surfaces of their facades "draw into their orbit" the space of the city. They are protected from the sun by a hexagonal mesh sun screen. The roofs and terraces of the towers are landscaped.
The adjacent plot has been turned into a park accessible to all citizens with an area in the middle, and the carriageway of the adjacent streets is raised above ground level so that traffic does not fence off the public space from the city.
The height of the residential tower is 186 m (50 above-ground floors, 660 apartments), buildings with offices (64,000 m2) and a hotel (350 rooms), as well as an observation terrace - 170 m (39 floors). The total area of the complex is 160 thousand m2. Construction should begin in 2013 and be completed in 2017.
