Formula 1 track medical center

In the X-ray rooms of the medical center of the future Formula 1 race track, about 4 thousand square meters of Knauf-Safeboard X-ray protective plates will be installed.

Knauf-Safeboard plates are intended for use in the construction of partitions, wall and ceiling claddings in rooms for X-ray procedures and studies.

They serve to ensure the radiation safety of personnel and patients in neighboring rooms. This is an environmentally friendly product, does not contain lead, has increased sound insulation and high fire performance, and the ability to create curved surfaces allows Knauf-Safeboard to be used in non-standard projects.

Olympic Village

The head of the design department of the Shtrabag company, engaged in the construction project of the Main Olympic Village, Vojin Zayich considers Knauf materials to be the most optimal in terms of quality and ease of use.

Knauf solutions for suspended ceilings, partitions and dry building mixes manufactured by Knauf were initially included in the project for the construction of housing for future Olympic champions. In all six zones, on about 300,000 square meters, which are allotted for development, KNAUF building finishing materials were used: various types of gypsum plasterboards, plaster mixes, including for machine application KNAUF-MP 75.

By mid-October 2012, work on the construction of the monolith was almost completed. It took almost 150,000 cubic meters of concrete, 20 tons of reinforcement. More than 90 thousand square meters of walls made of bricks and foam blocks, 85 thousand square meters of partitions made of plasterboard sheets, about 80 thousand square meters of suspended ceilings should be built. The surface to be plastered is about 160 thousand square meters of walls and up to 100 thousand square meters of the ceiling. In some buildings, work is already underway on the interior decoration of the premises, the walls are covered with a KNAUF-Betokontakt primer, plastering is carried out by machine using the KNAUF-MP 75 gypsum plaster mixture.

According to Alexander Pankratov, the head of a separate subdivision of the Southern Sales Directorate of Knauf in the city of Sochi, KNAUF supplied about 230 thousand square meters of Knauf sheets (gypsum plasterboards) and up to 2.5 thousand tons of gypsum plaster mixes to the construction of the Main Olympic Village.

According to Vojin Zayich, the use of quality-assured materials allowed the project to receive a LEED silver certification from the American Green Building Council. The buildings of the Main Olympic Village are capable of withstanding a seismic load of 9 points.

Large ice hockey arena

In the Olympic Park, at various objects, not only materials that are widely known and popular among builders are used, but also various innovative products of Knauf, somewhere their use was provided for by a project, somewhere it was a reaction to objective circumstances, terms, conditions and quality requirements.

An extremely interesting construction site is a large ice hockey arena under construction - the Bolshoi Ice Palace, designed for 12 thousand spectators.

According to Murat Akhmadiev, head of the Olympstroy Group of Companies: “Hundreds of thousands of square meters of KNAUF gypsum plasterboard were used in the decoration. I have never complained about Knauf products. Since 2001 I have been working with the materials of the company, they help to solve problems.

The main thing is to withstand all technologies, to make sound insulation correctly, for example, partitions, and this will be the best solution. This is facilitated by excellent Routing Maps. I even remember the parameters inherent in them by heart”.

According to Murat Akhmadiev, moisture-resistant slabs AQUAPANEL Inner were used in rooms with high humidity. Initially, the project provided for the use of moisture-resistant gypsum plasterboard sheets, which must be mounted under conditions of stable temperature and humidity conditions with a closed thermal circuit, which was impossible to provide under the conditions in which the builders were supplied. The humid subtropical climate and the need to carry out finishing work on the object without external walls forced the builders to look for extraordinary solutions, until a decision was made to use AQUAPANEL slabs.

The KNAUF GIPS Kuban plant is shipping to Sochi around the clock

To improve customer service - construction companies involved in the preparation of the Winter Olympic Games - the KNAUF CIS group opened an office directly in Sochi - a subdivision of the Southern Sales Directorate - the KNAUF GIPS branch, headquartered in Krasnodar.

The delivery of materials to the facility takes on average 2-3 days and is carried out mainly from the production enterprise "KNAUF GIPS Kuban", which is considered one of the most advanced similar productions in the international KNAUF group.

KNAUF GIPS Kuban is several modern production facilities located in close proximity to the largest gypsum deposit and united by one technology. The enterprise includes: a gypsum quarry, a gypsum plant, a gypsum board plant, a plant for dry building mixtures based on gypsum, a section for the production of metal profiles. The speed of the conveyor for the production of Knauf sheets is 95 meters per minute, which is a very high indicator and indicates the highest technological level of production.

"KNAUF GIPS Kuban" produces 10 types of gypsum plasterboard sheets of various thickness, length and shape of the longitudinal edge, nealit, gypsum binders, 10 types of dry putty and plaster mixtures, gypsum stone, ceiling and guide metal profiles.

The company has implemented and since 2005 has been operating a quality system based on the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001; the introduction of ISO 14000 is being prepared.

Speed skating center "Adler Arena"

Knauf materials, which are not yet produced in Russia, are also used at Olympic venues.

For example, in the Adler Arena Skating Center, a plate manufactured by Knauf Integral from Germany is used for the installation of a raised floor in the space inside the track.
