As a reminder, ROCKWOOL in 2010 became the first manufacturer of building materials to receive an environmental certificate. Since 2010, the company has acquired two more factories and expanded its product line. EcoMaterial certification certifies that all of the company's products and manufacturing processes at all four factories fully comply with the company's stated high environmental standards.

EcoMaterial 1.3 was awarded to ROCKWOOL based on the results of a “comprehensive audit of construction and finishing materials and their production facilities” by EcoStandardGroup. The certificate confirms that ROCKWOOL thermal insulation materials, made of stone wool based on basalt rocks, are recommended in category A premises: residential buildings, kindergartens, homes for the disabled and the elderly, sanatoriums, educational institutions, sports facilities, industrial enterprises and other facilities. type B, C.

“For ROCKWOOL, the environmental issue has traditionally been one of the priorities. The very material from which the thermal insulation is made is a natural natural stone. All factories of the company have a closed production cycle: cotton wool trims are returned back to production in order to make production as lean as possible. In addition, Rockwool insulation is one of the few industrial products with a positive energy balance. This means that the amount of energy that our products save is many times greater than the amount of energy that was used to produce them,”commented Alla Serebryakova, Head of Public Relations, Rockwool Russia.

The standard was developed over several years and then corrected and improved. Researchers from research institutes and laboratories, independent experts were involved in the development. As a result, version 1.3 is currently in effect. in which more attention is paid to aspects of the product life cycle and the environmental performance of manufacturing plants. EcoMaterial evaluates not only the material and declarations, like many markings, but also verifies the submitted documents and statements - going to the factories with an audit, evaluates the dynamics of the plant: calculates indicators for emissions, discharges, energy efficiency. More than 27 types of products (brands) and more than 65 types (names) of building materials are certified according to the standard.

This year, products from Wienerberger (Plant in Kiprevo), NLK Domostroenie (Sokolsky DOK), Quick-mix (Noginsk), Aerobel (Belgorod) also received the right to use EcoMaterial markings.

To date, Ytong, a group of brands Saint-Gobain, Bayer, Velux, Ursa, EUROCEMENTHoldingAG and others have already been labeled EcoMaterial.
